I'm finally getting married in Fields of Mistria when its 1.0 update launches in August | PC Gamer

Fields of Mistria launched its full version with one of the most requested features finally in place: marriage. You can now build a relationship with any of 12 NPCs, propose with a crafted engagement ring, trigger a proper wedding cutscene, and even start a family. The system builds on the romance mechanics that early access players already know, but the path to the altar has some specific steps worth understanding before you commit.

How does the marriage system work in Fields of Mistria?

Marriage sits at the top of the relationship progression system. Everything starts with gifting. Each NPC has preferences, and giving them something they love earns you Love Points. The gauge maxes out at 10, and once you hit that ceiling it stays there, so no progress is ever lost.

As your bond deepens, new activities open up with each NPC. These shared moments create additional opportunities to accumulate points and push the relationship forward. Once you reach 8 or more Love Points with someone, you unlock the option to go on a date, but you also need to have completed their Heart quests before that becomes available.

important
Dating requires both 8+ Love Points and completed Heart quests. Skipping the quests will block your progress even if your gauge is high.

The final threshold for marriage is a full Friendship Gauge of 10. Hitting that milestone with your chosen NPC opens the path to the proposal.

How do you get the engagement ring?

Once your Friendship Gauge reaches 10 with your target NPC, visit Elsie in town. She provides the recipe you need to craft the engagement ring. After crafting it, hand the ring directly to the NPC you want to marry.

A wedding ceremony cutscene plays out after the proposal is accepted, and from that point forward you begin your married life together. The game also opens up the possibility of having kids once you're wed.

warning
Marriage is a one-person commitment. You can only be married to one NPC at a time, and you can only marry single characters, so choose carefully before proposing.

Who can you marry in Fields of Mistria?

There are 12 marriageable candidates in the full release. The game has no gender restrictions, so you can pursue any of them regardless of your character's setup.

The roster covers a solid range of personalities and occupations. Caldarus stands out as the most unconventional pick, being an ancient dragon rather than a regular townsperson. Balor is worth noting too since he's a traveling merchant, which makes building his relationship gauge a different experience compared to NPCs who stay in town.

tip
Focus your early gifting on a single candidate rather than spreading Love Points thin across multiple NPCs. Completing Heart quests efficiently matters more than raw gifting volume once you're past the 8-point threshold.

What are the benefits of getting married?

Beyond the narrative satisfaction of a wedding ceremony, married life in Fields of Mistria comes with real mechanical perks. Your spouse moves in with you, and the game opens up the option to have children. The full version expanded these systems significantly compared to what early access players experienced, making the late-game relationship content feel more complete.

For players who have been farming Love Points since early access, the transition to the full version means those relationship foundations carry over into a system that now has a proper endpoint. Getting to 10 on the Friendship Gauge is the work, and the wedding is the payoff.

For more guides covering mechanics, quests, and progression systems in the game, the Fields of Mistria guides collection has everything organized by topic. Fields of Mistria sits among the better recent entries in indie games that take the farming sim formula seriously, and the marriage system in the full release is a meaningful addition to what was already a strong foundation.
