Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Guide: How to Get & Level Up Crown Sprite

The Crown Sprite is one of the most demanding collectibles in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4. Every other Sprite in the game can be leveled up by opening chests, lighting campfires, or exploring the map. The Crown Sprite plays by entirely different rules: you have to win. That makes it both the rarest flex in your Sprite Garden and the most frustrating to chase if your Victory Royale count is sitting at zero.

How do you get the Crown Sprite in Fortnite?

The Crown Sprite does not drop from Sprite Chests, Cheat Codes, or any standard loot source on the map. The only way to add it to your collection is to win a match of Battle Royale or Zero Build. The moment the Victory Royale screen appears, the Crown Sprite is automatically added to your inventory without any pickup required.

Two other methods exist as alternatives, though neither is as clean:

  • Eliminate an opponent who is carrying a Crown Sprite. You can claim it from their loot.
  • Trade with a friend who already owns one. They will spend some Sprite Dust to summon a copy for you, but it is by far the easiest route if you know someone willing to part with it.

Bot lobbies will not count toward Crown Sprite acquisition or leveling. The win must come from a standard matchmade lobby of Battle Royale or Zero Build.

The Crown Sprite is also concentrated around high-altitude locations on the Chapter 7 Season 4 map. Spots like Lifty Lodge, Green Hill Zone, Golden Grove, and Stone Sanctum are the areas where opponents carrying one are most likely to be found, making elimination farming more efficient if that is the route you want to take.

How to level up the Crown Sprite without winning every match

This is where things get genuinely interesting. Normally, each level of the Crown Sprite requires a separate win in a standard lobby. Getting eliminated at any point resets the Sprite back to Level 1, which makes the standard grind punishing for anyone outside the top tier of players.

There is a second method that bypasses the win requirement, though it may not last forever.

The Adventure Sprite trick

The Adventure Sprite (also called the Adventurer Sprite) levels up through standard in-match actions: opening chests, ammo boxes, produce boxes, lighting campfires, and catching fish. Each time the Adventure Sprite gains a level, it upgrades a random item in your loadout.

Here is how to direct that upgrade toward your Crown Sprite:

  1. Equip the Adventure Sprite as your active Sprite.
  2. Place the Crown Sprite in your inventory.
  3. Remove every other upgradeable item from your loadout, leaving only the Crown Sprite alongside non-upgradeable items like healing consumables and shields.
  4. Grind Adventure Sprite levels through chests, campfires, and fishing.
  5. Each Adventure Sprite level-up will target the Crown Sprite as the only eligible item.
warning
This method is likely unintended behavior and could be patched at any time. Use it while it works, but do not build a long-term plan around it.

The Adventure Sprite trick will not instantly master the Crown Sprite the way a win does. It levels it up one step at a time. Reaching Level 5 through this method also has a specific limitation: the Crown Sprite will not automatically evolve into the Cheat Master Crown variant unless the final level-up comes from an actual Victory Royale.

What does the Crown Sprite actually do?

Honestly, not much in terms of active gameplay. The Crown Sprite has no combat buffs, movement bonuses, or in-match effects. Its sole function is granting extra Crown Wins after you secure a Victory Royale, which feeds into your overall Crown Win count display.

If showing off your Victory Crown history matters to you, this Sprite is the way to do it. For players focused on competitive advantage, other Sprites in the season offer far more practical value during a match. All Crown Sprite variants in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4

As of patch v42.00, there are three Crown Sprite variants available. Each one builds on the last, and unlocking them requires progressing through the mastery track.

The Cheat Master Crown variant is the one most players are chasing right now. Its automatic Cheat Code entry perk saves time and removes the risk of being caught vulnerable while inputting codes in the open. The Gold Crown is the long-game reward, and that 3x elimination XP bonus makes it genuinely useful for leveling.

tip
More Crown Sprite variants may be added in future Chapter 7 Season 4 updates. The current three are confirmed as of v42.00, but Epic has a history of expanding mastery tracks mid-season.

Tips for mastering the Crown Sprite faster

After testing the leveling loop across multiple match types, a few approaches consistently speed things up:

  • Play Zero Build if you struggle with building. Wins count equally, and the mechanical ceiling is lower.
  • Use bush camping in the final circles. It is not glamorous, but surviving to the end is the entire goal here.
  • Queue with friends who have low skill-based matchmaking ratings. Softer lobbies improve your win odds without crossing into bot territory.
  • Combine the Adventure Sprite trick with occasional wins. Use the trick to push early levels, then secure wins to trigger the Cheat Master Crown evolution.
  • Equip a Victory Crown from a previous win before your next match. Winning while holding a Victory Crown delivers an instant level-up to the Crown Sprite.

For players who want to track down Sprite Chests to farm Adventure Sprite levels more efficiently, the complete Sprite Chest spawn locations guide covers every reliable farming route on the current map.

Is the Crown Sprite worth chasing?

That depends entirely on what you want from the Sprite system. As a combat tool, the base Crown Sprite contributes nothing to your match performance. The Gold Crown variant changes that calculation somewhat with its 3x elimination XP, but reaching it requires a significant time investment.

As a prestige item and a way to track your Victory Crown history, it is one of the best status symbols in Chapter 7 Season 4. The Cheat Master Crown's automatic code entry is also a real quality-of-life win for players who use Cheat Codes frequently.

For a broader look at everything the Sprite system has to offer this season, including movement options like the Air Sprite's mobility abilities and the full Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 strategy guides, there is plenty more to explore beyond the Crown.
