Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 Guide: How to Get the Reaper Sprite

The Grim Reaper Sprite is one of the hardest finds in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3's Gone Wild event. Its Mythic rarity puts it at the very top of the Sprite tier list, and its combat ability makes the grind worth it. If you've been tearing through Sprite Chests with nothing to show for it, here's exactly what you need to know.

Where to find the Grim Reaper Sprite

There is no fixed spawn location for the Grim Sprite on the Chapter 7 Season 3 map. It drops as random loot, which means luck is a genuine factor here, not just a disclaimer. That said, some loot sources are far more reliable than others.

Sprite Chests are your best starting point. Unlike regular chests, Sprite Chests are guaranteed to contain at least one Sprite per opening. Stacking your route around Sprite Chest locations gives you more rolls at a Mythic drop per match than any other approach.

Vaults are worth prioritizing too. Each vault on the Chapter 7 Season 3 map can hold up to 3 Sprite Chests per match, which means a single vault run can triple your chances compared to looting individual chests. You will need an Epic Vault Keycard to access the larger vaults, so keep an eye out for those while looting.

Blue Rare Chests are another solid option. They skew toward higher-rarity loot and give you a better shot at Mythic Sprites than standard floor chests.

Gold fishing pools scattered across the island can also drop Sprites, and players have reported pulling rare and unique ones from these spots. They don't always contain Sprites, but when they do, the rarity tends to skew high.

Floor loot is technically possible but genuinely uncommon. Stumbling across a Grim Reaper Sprite in the open is more of a lucky accident than a strategy.

What does the Grim Reaper Sprite do in Fortnite?

The Grim Reaper Sprite marks any enemy who deals damage to you. The moment an opponent lands a hit, their position gets tagged automatically, no manual scanning required. That marker stays active for a short window, giving you time to locate and track them.

This ability has obvious value in open-field fights where a sniper tags you from range and immediately repositions. The mark tells you exactly where they went, cutting out the guesswork. The same logic applies inside structures. If an opponent chips you through a wall gap, the Grim Sprite reveals their position inside the building, letting you time your push or retreat accordingly.

The marker duration scales with Sprite level. Here's how that progression looks:

At Level 1, 3 seconds is enough to identify a direction and make a decision. At Level 5, 5 seconds gives you enough time to reposition, line up a shot, and still have the marker active. The difference between Level 1 and Level 5 is small in raw numbers but meaningful in practice, especially in fast-moving late-game scenarios.

How to extract the Grim Reaper Sprite quickly

Once you find the Grim Sprite, extraction should be your immediate priority. You can extract it by heading to an Extraction Site with the Sprite equipped, or by using a Portable Extractor on the spot.

Given how rare this Sprite is, the Portable Extractor is the smarter play. It takes roughly 5 seconds to complete, meaning you don't need to navigate to a fixed Extraction Site while carrying one of the rarest Sprites in the game. How does the Grim Sprite compare to other Mythic Sprites?

The Grim Reaper Sprite sits alongside other Mythic-tier finds like the Zero Point Sprite in terms of rarity. What separates it is the reactive nature of its ability. Most Sprites offer offensive or movement-based perks, but the Grim Sprite's enemy-marking mechanic is purely defensive and informational. It doesn't stop damage, but it removes the confusion that usually follows taking a hit.

For players who struggle with positional awareness or find themselves frequently getting third-partied, the Grim Sprite offers a consistent answer. You always know where the threat came from.
