How do you unlock the Jess skin for free?
You need to rack up 350,000 XP inside Save the World mode. That XP total is the only path to the Jess Outfit, and you have until June 5, 2026 to hit it. That's when Chapter 7 Season 3 kicks off and the crossover wraps up for good.
Critical detail: Battle Royale XP doesn't count. Every single point must come from Save the World itself. Your regular BR matches won't move the needle here at all.
Save the World became free-to-play on April 16, 2026, so any Fortnite account can dive in without spending anything. No paywall stands between you and starting the grind.
What's the fastest way to earn XP in Save the World?
Save the World hands out XP through a few key activities you'll want to hit consistently:
- Missions: Your bread and butter. Higher-difficulty missions pay out more XP per completion, so push into tougher zones whenever you can handle them.
- Storm Shield Defense missions: These deliver solid XP chunks and should be near the top of your priority list early on.
- Daily Quests: Knock these out every single day. They reset on a schedule and add up fast over the weeks before the deadline hits.

What other rewards come from the crossover?
The Jess skin isn't the only reward up for grabs. The Battle Royale and Save the World crossover includes a Working with Jess questline on the Chapter 7 Season 2 map. Finish two of Jess's quests during a BR match and you unlock the option to buy the Super Shredder weapon mid-game.
Complete both the Working with Jess and Working with Penny questlines in full, and you'll earn the Super Shredder Schematic for permanent use in Save the World mode. That's a real reward for players planning to stick around after the crossover ends.
These Battle Royale questlines also pump extra XP into your Showdown Battle Pass levels, so the two modes do feed into each other even though BR XP doesn't count toward the Jess skin itself.
Can you buy the Jess skin later?
Right now, no. The Jess skin isn't for sale in the Item Shop. Fortnite did update its exclusivity policy back in August 2024, allowing Battle Pass items to return to the shop after 18 months or more.
