The current Fortnite season ends on November 1, 2026. Chapter 7 Season 4, Override, stops when downtime starts for the Treasure Hunters update, and Epic’s Battle Pass page says “Ends November 1, 2026 Eastern Time”. Epic hasn’t posted the hour yet, so I’d treat Saturday, October 31 as your real deadline.
Key takeaways
- Override ends on Sunday, November 1, 2026, when downtime starts for Treasure Hunters, update v43.00.
- Epic hasn’t confirmed the hour. The usual slots are 2 AM ET or 4 AM ET, and season launches this year took 5 to 7 hours.
- Battle Pass rewards you’ve earned come to you automatically. Levels you haven’t reached are gone.
What time does the Fortnite season end?
There’s no official time yet. Epic posts downtime on its status page, and when this went up there was nothing listed for November 1. Gaming Route went through this year’s notices and found each one went up 7 to 14 hours ahead, so we could get the real time at any point on Saturday.
Until then it’s educated guesses. FRVR’s countdown and Beebom both expect 2 AM ET, when downtime started for Override’s launch in August. Vice cites dataminers saying around 1 AM PT, and 4 AM ET is the slot regular patches use. US clocks also go back that same morning, because of course they do. Gaming Route quotes Epic’s August notice as “2 AM ET (6 AM UTC)”, so if Epic keeps 6 AM UTC, that’s 1 AM ET this time. Here’s each slot where you are, all on Sunday, November 1 unless it says otherwise:
| Where you are | If Epic keeps 6 AM UTC | If downtime starts at 2 AM ET | If downtime starts at 4 AM ET |
|---|---|---|---|
| US Pacific | 11 PM PDT, Oct 31 | 12 AM PDT | 1 AM PST |
| US Eastern | 1 AM EST | 2 AM EST | 4 AM EST |
| UK | 6 AM GMT | 7 AM GMT | 9 AM GMT |
| Central Europe | 7 AM CET | 8 AM CET | 10 AM CET |
| Sydney | 5 PM AEDT | 6 PM AEDT | 8 PM AEDT |
These are conversions, not Epic’s times. Gaming Route says matchmaking has gone off 30 minutes before downtime in every notice this year, so a match you queue in that last half hour won’t find a lobby. Epic’s support page also warns that end dates can change, so check the Battle Pass tab in game.
Is it October 31 or November 1?
November 1. You’ll see October 31 around, including in Vice’s release date piece from October 26, but Epic’s Battle Pass page says November 1 and I’d go with Epic. Fortnitemares also runs until November 1, according to Epic’s own post on the event.
October 31 is still a real date. It’s the last day of The Final Spritemare, and in the US it’s the last full day before downtime. If downtime is 2 AM ET, the West Coast loses the game at midnight on Saturday night, so anything you were saving for Sunday morning is gone.
What happens to your Battle Pass when the season ends?
You keep what you earned. Epic’s support page says unclaimed Pass rewards arrive automatically the next time you log in, as long as you’ve earned enough levels for them. So you don’t need to panic-click through every reward before downtime.
Levels you haven’t reached are a different story. Once the season ends you can’t earn XP on that Pass, and Epic says you can’t buy a Pass for a season that’s over. Items might turn up in the Item Shop 18 or more months later, but Epic also says there’s no guarantee, so I wouldn’t plan around it.
If you get the Pass through Fortnite Crew, there’s a catch. For anyone who subscribed after December 1, 2024, Epic says premium rewards can only be claimed while the subscription is active. Claim everything before you cancel.
Still haven’t bought the Override Battle Pass? It’s 800 V-Bucks, and Epic says buying late still unlocks the rewards up to your current level. That’s only worth it if you’re already high enough for what you want. If you’re not, I’d keep the V-Bucks, because Beebom has the Treasure Hunters pass at 800 too, and you get about five weeks with it.
What should you finish before Override ends?
Battle Pass levels first, since you can’t get those back once XP stops. After that, you just need to log in on Saturday. Fortnite Status says The Final Spritemare gives you a new Lucky Locator each day you log in through October 31, and Fortnite’s schedule has Boosted Variants all day on the 31st.
Epic’s wording for the week is double Sprite XP and Sprite Dust, so don’t count on it for Battle Pass levels. Spend your Sprite Dust and Gizmos while you’re there. FRVR notes that Sprite Dust, Gizmos and Lucky Locators all reset to zero when Override began, and Epic hasn’t said they carry over this time. Collected Sprites stay in the Sprite Garden, FRVR says.
Override’s story quests close with the season too, according to the games.gg Treasure Hunters guide. One thing you can leave is the Safety in Numbers quest, which that guide has running until November 12 at 6 AM ET. Check the in-game timers if something looks off.
What comes after Override?
Treasure Hunters, a mini-season, starts on November 1 with update v43.00. It swaps the island for Crossbones Isle, which GameSpot says is smaller and holds 80 players, down from 100. The Battle Pass has Portgas D. Ace and Nico Robin from One Piece, and Vice’s rundown has Luffy, Nami and Usopp in the Item Shop on day one.
Epic hasn’t said when the servers come back. Beebom’s patch notes piece says 6 AM ET, Vice says around 7 AM ET and FRVR says 7 to 8 AM ET. Gaming Route has this year’s season launches at 5.3 to 6.9 hours offline. Vice has the first Captain’s Day at 9 AM ET, so I’d guess we’re back in by then.
When does the next Fortnite season end?
If you’re reading this after November 1, the next date is December 5. Beebom quotes Epic’s patch notes telling players to keep that Saturday open for a “Chapter 7 end event”. Shacknews, which got Epic’s press release, has Treasure Hunters running from November 1 to December 5. That’s 34 days, against 73 for Override.
Chapter 8 doesn’t have an official start date in any of this. Leakers were saying December 1, per FRVR, and that doesn’t fit with an end event on December 5, so I’d ignore that one. For now, December 5 is the only end date Epic has given.
