Chapter 7 Season 4 of Fortnite brings back the Gizmo system with a fresh lineup of items that go well beyond what players saw last season. The Portable Extractor returns, but new additions like the Cheat Code Locator change how you hunt Sprites entirely. There are currently 5 Gizmos in Override, each with its own acquisition method, and knowing which ones to prioritize makes a real difference in how efficiently you progress.
What are Gizmos in Fortnite Override?
Gizmos occupy your Pickaxe slot and give you access to utility items that you can activate mid-match without burning inventory space. They range from healing tools to Sprite-hunting aids, and the best ones directly support the season's core loop of finding and extracting Sprites. If you want a deeper look at how the Pickaxe slot system works, the Fortnite Gizmos guide covering Pickaxe slot mechanics breaks down activation and switching in detail.

How to get all Gizmos in Fortnite Override
Each Gizmo has its own unlock path. Some cost Sprite Dust at Extraction Site Service Stations, others drop from Daily Quests, and a handful are tied to Lobby Hack Codes you can enter before a match. Here is every Gizmo and exactly how to get it:
| Gizmo | Effect | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Cheat Code Locator | Spawns a nearby Cheat Code, with a small chance for Legendary rarity | Extraction Site Service Station (1,500 Sprite Dust daily); Override Daily Quests; Wrixel Ziggy Get Crafty Story Quests; Lobby Hack Codes FindItChat and SurviveTheNight |
| Portable Extractor | Extracts Sprites safely from anywhere on the map | Extraction Site Service Station (2,500 Sprite Dust daily); Override Daily Quests on Cheat Code Day (3x every Monday); Lobby Hack Code O2Override; Wrixel Ziggy Get Crafty Story Quests; bonus copies during Power Hours |
| Llama Supply Drop | Calls in a Supply Drop that can contain a God Mode Llama and a potential 1-Up Token | Wrixel Ziggy Get Crafty Story Quests; Lobby Hack Code O2Override |
| Extraction Accelerator | Calls in a silent Accelerated Crate at an Extraction Site for faster, low-profile extractions | Override Daily Quests; Lobby Hack Code TakeYourHeart |
| Spicy Taco | Restores health and applies the Pepper Effect, boosting movement speed and stamina | Lobby Hack Code PerfectOrder |
Lobby Hack Codes
If you want Gizmos without spending Sprite Dust, Lobby Hack Codes are the most direct route. Four of the five Gizmos have at least one associated code. Enter them in the lobby before dropping in and the corresponding Gizmo will be added to your loadout. For a full list of every active code this season, the Fortnite Override Lobby Hack Codes guide has all 12 confirmed codes including Sonic, Persona 5, and Alienware exclusives.

Wrixel Ziggy Get Crafty Story Quests
Three Gizmos (the Cheat Code Locator, Portable Extractor, and Llama Supply Drop) are all available through the Wrixel Ziggy Get Crafty Story Quests. Completing these quests is worth doing regardless, since they also feed into the broader Override narrative. If you want to catch up on the season's story while earning rewards, the story audio log locations guide for Fortnite Override points you to all three logs for free Battle Pass XP on top.
What are the best Gizmos in Fortnite Override?
Not all five Gizmos pull equal weight. After running through the Sprite-hunting loop extensively, two items stand clearly above the rest.
| Tier | Gizmo | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Portable Extractor | The only way to extract Sprites safely outside of Extraction Sites. Essential for keeping new Sprites in your collection without losing them to other players. |
| S | Cheat Code Locator | Spawns a Cheat Code on demand with a chance at Legendary rarity. Best tool in the game for hunting Mythic Sprites. |
| A | Extraction Accelerator | Silent and fast at Extraction Sites. Excellent for avoiding player conflicts during extraction. |
| B | Llama Supply Drop | Useful for loot and making progress on Power Up quests, but situational. |
| C | Spicy Taco | Functional as a backup heal, but rarely the item you are actively trying to acquire. |
The Portable Extractor and Cheat Code Locator are the two you want stocked at all times. The Portable Extractor costs 2,500 Sprite Dust at Service Stations, which is the steeper daily investment, but the ability to extract anywhere without alerting nearby players is worth every bit of it. The Cheat Code Locator at 1,500 Sprite Dust is the better value per use if your goal is Mythic Sprite hunting specifically.

Where to find Override Consoles and Extraction Sites
Getting the most out of Gizmos requires knowing where to use them. Extraction Sites are fixed locations tied to the Override system, and activating Overrides at the island's consoles can change the rules mid-match in ways that directly affect Sprite availability. For a step-by-step breakdown of finding and triggering those consoles, the guide on how to activate Overrides at consoles in Chapter 7 Season 4 covers the exact quest flow.
