Overview
Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 is a free-to-play team action shooter developed by Bandai Namco Forge Digitals Inc., set entirely within the Universal Century timeline of the long-running Gundam franchise. Two teams of six players clash across varied battlefields, commanding Mobile Suits or fighting on foot as infantry, with the goal of wiping out the enemy team or seizing key objectives before time runs out.
The game launched on Steam on May 30, 2023, following its earlier PlayStation release. Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. publishes the game, with additional Mobile Suits available through regular Supply Drops.

Gameplay and mechanics
The core loop combines Mobile Suit combat, infantry objectives, and preparation between matches:

- Mobile Suit pilot: direct frontline combat
- Infantry: objective capture and bomb placement
- Support fire: called in by infantry to pressure enemy positions
- Hangar customization: parts and weapons tuned between matches
- DP currency: earned from matches to unlock new suits
Mobile Suit combat and infantry actions give players different ways to contribute. Pilots can leave their machines to capture objectives, place bombs at enemy bases, or request support fire. Choosing when to fight in a Mobile Suit and when to act on foot adds a tactical layer to the team battles.

What does the Mobile Suit roster look like?
The roster pulls heavily from Universal Century staples: Zakus, GMs, Gundams from the original series, and suits from Zeta Gundam and beyond all appear. Players acquire suits through DP earned in matches or via purchased tokens spent in weekly Supply Drops, the game's gacha-adjacent system. Once a suit is in the hangar, it can be developed by swapping out parts, upgrading weapons, and unlocking passive abilities, giving each machine a distinct build identity over time.
The customization system has real depth. A Zaku II configured for close-range melee plays completely differently from one tuned for ranged pressure, and the hangar gives players enough variables to feel like they're making meaningful choices rather than just slotting in the highest-number upgrade.
Multiplayer and social
Base Camp serves as the game's social hub, an online lobby where pilots can interact and prepare their Mobile Suits before heading into matches. Battles support teams of up to six players, making coordination and the choice of equipment important parts of the experience.

Battle Operation 2 gives Gundam fans a team-based battlefield built around Universal Century Mobile Suits. Learning the roster, preparing a suitable loadout, and coordinating infantry objectives with allies are central to getting more out of each match.
