Top five things to do first in Moonlight Peaks | Eurogamer.net

Moonlight Peaks has a tool upgrade path that most players overlook until they're deep into the game: Enchanted Tools. These are the top tier of every tool in the game, and their defining feature is simple but powerful. They don't consume any energy when used. That means unlimited chopping, mining, watering, tilling, and fishing, limited only by how many hours you want to spend in a single day.

Getting there takes some work, and the cost per tool is steep. Here's exactly how the unlock sequence works, what each tool does, and which ones are worth buying first.

How do you unlock Enchanted Tools in Moonlight Peaks?

Enchanted Tools don't appear in any shop by default. The unlock is tied to a specific progression milestone: you need to buy your first Gold Tool from Ridge at the Howling Hammer. Any Gold Tool triggers the sequence, whether that's the Gold Axe, Gold Pickaxe, or any other Gold-tier item.

After purchasing your first Gold Tool, wait 6 in-game days. On the morning of the 6th day, when you step outside your house, a cutscene plays. Noel stops you at the door and explains that he's invented Enchanted Tools, and that they're now available for purchase.

From that point on, head to the Webb of Wonders and talk to Sabrina to open the shop. Enchanted Tools appear under the Tools tab.

important
You cannot skip tiers. Buying an Enchanted Tool requires trading in the Gold version of that tool (or the Premium Fishing Rod for the fishing rod). If you're still on Iron Tools, you'll need to upgrade to Gold first before Enchanted Tools become purchasable.

What does each Enchanted Tool do?

Every Enchanted Tool removes energy consumption for its specific action. The Enchanted Watering Can goes a step further: it holds infinite water and consumes neither water nor energy when used. That's the most impactful single upgrade for dedicated farmers.

Here's the full breakdown of all six tools, their costs, and their effects:

Every tool costs exactly 48,000 Coins and 5 Mana Essence on top of the required trade-in. Buying all six is a significant investment, so prioritizing the right tools first matters.

tip
The Enchanted Scythe is the only tool that requires an Iron-tier trade-in rather than Gold. That makes it slightly easier to acquire early compared to the others.

Which Enchanted Tools should you buy first?

The Enchanted Axe and Enchanted Pickaxe are the two highest-priority purchases. Wood and ore are the two resources you'll burn through fastest in the mid-to-late game, and both gathering actions drain energy quickly. Removing that cost entirely frees up enormous amounts of your daily stamina for other tasks.

The Enchanted Watering Can comes in third. Infinite water combined with zero energy cost makes it the most transformative upgrade for crop-focused playthroughs. If farming is your main focus, you could argue it belongs at the top of the list.

The Enchanted Shovel and Enchanted Scythe are useful but lower priority. Tilling and grass-cutting are less frequent actions compared to chopping and mining in most playthroughs. The Enchanted Fishing Rod is the last pick unless you're specifically grinding fish-related content.

warning
Each Enchanted Tool purchase consumes the trade-in item permanently. Make sure you're ready to commit before confirming the purchase in Sabrina's shop.

How to afford all six Enchanted Tools

Six tools at 48,000 Coins each adds up to 288,000 Coins before accounting for Mana Essence. That's a serious grind. The coin requirement alone makes this a late-game goal for most players, not something to rush toward in the first few weeks.

Focusing on high-value crops and consistent resource selling is the most reliable path to building that kind of coin reserve. Prioritizing the Axe and Pickaxe first lets you gather resources faster, which accelerates your overall income and brings the remaining purchases closer.

What makes Enchanted Tools worth the grind?

The energy system in Moonlight Peaks is the main constraint on how much you can accomplish each day. Every swing of an axe, every mining strike, every watering action chips away at your stamina bar. Once that bar runs out, your productive day is over.

Enchanted Tools remove that ceiling entirely for their specific actions. With a full set equipped, you can spend an entire in-game day chopping trees, mining ore, tilling fields, and watering crops without your energy becoming a factor at all. For players who enjoy simulation games where optimizing your daily routine is half the fun, that's about as close to a perfect upgrade as the game offers.

For everything else you need to master in Moonlight Peaks, the full Moonlight Peaks strategy guides cover farming, relationships, combat, and more. If you're chasing 100% completion alongside your tool upgrades, the Moonlight Peaks trophy list breaks down every achievement and what's needed to unlock each one.
