AI GTA 6 Slop Is Getting Millions of Views While Fans Wait for a Real Trailer

Fake AI-generated GTA 6 videos are pulling millions of views on Instagram and TikTok as fans grow desperate for official gameplay footage ahead of November.

The wait for a proper Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay trailer has stretched long enough that a cottage industry of AI-generated fake footage has stepped in to fill the gap. And it is pulling serious numbers.

What the AI slop actually looks like

The videos follow a familiar pattern. A woman in a white dress on a yacht. A character surfing a Vice City beach. Someone entering a car. They look vaguely like what you'd imagine GTA 6 might look like, right up until they don't. One surfing clip, sitting at 1.2 million views and around 33,000 likes on Instagram, drew the top comment: "GTA 6 but from Temu." Another video showing someone getting into a car has racked up 4.4 million views on TikTok, with the vehicle visibly morphing from one model into a completely different one mid-shot as the AI lost track of perspective. A commenter summed it up: "love how the car changes."

The tells are everywhere once you know to look. One Instagram clip has a prompt visible on screen reading "press [Button] to drink chamchnapane." The mini-map in an aerial brawl video shows city streets while the action takes place over open ocean. A plane flies backwards, its propellers reversed. These are not subtle errors.

Here's the thing: the view counts are real, but the engagement tells a different story. Likes and comments lag far behind the raw view numbers, and the comment sections are consistently hostile. "Holy AI," "If it turns out like this I'm suing," and "AI detected" gifs are common responses. The most liked comment on one of the bigger posts is just the word "AI."

Rockstar Games has begun issuing DMCA takedowns against some of the more viral AI-generated GTA 6 posts on X. The move has been welcomed by the fanbase, though some community members speculate Rockstar acted partly because a few clips looked uncomfortably close to actual in-game assets.

Why the numbers are so high despite the backlash

The view counts make more sense when you consider the context. Rockstar Games has released two trailers for GTA 6 and very little else in terms of actual gameplay. The game is targeting a November release, and the community is running on fumes. Browse any GTA 6 community hub and the marketing conversation dominates. Posts about the lack of official footage are a constant fixture.

AI slop is cheap and fast to produce, and it gets served to anyone who has ever searched for GTA 6 content. The algorithm does not distinguish between authentic footage and fabricated clips. For creators chasing views, the formula works even when the audience hates what they're watching. Outrage and mockery still drive impressions.

The gap between what fans want and what exists

The AI video surge is a symptom of a specific kind of marketing drought. Two trailers have confirmed the setting, the protagonists Lucia and Jason, and the general tone. What they have not shown is how the game actually plays. No weapon systems, no driving mechanics, no mission structure. The absence of that footage is exactly the void these AI clips are trying to exploit.

Rockstar's DMCA actions suggest the studio is paying attention, but takedowns are reactive by nature. For every clip removed from X, several more exist on Instagram and TikTok where enforcement is slower and harder. The creators behind these posts are not going anywhere while the demand exists and the tools remain accessible.

Pro tip: if you want to stay ahead of what Rockstar actually confirms, the GTA 6 guide collection covers pre-order details, platform features, and multiplayer plans as official information drops, so you're not relying on a yacht video with a misspelled champagne prompt to fill you in.
