Arena Breakout: Infinite Season 7 Utopia Brings Zombies on September 16

MoreFun Studios has officially announced Arena Breakout: Infinite Season 7, titled Utopia, dropping on September 16. The headline addition is something the extraction shooter community has been quietly asking for: zombies. Two full zombie modes, a batch of new weapons, and a wave of balance adjustments that players have been pushing for are all part of the package.

Arena Breakout: Infinite is getting its biggest tonal shift yet, and the timing is deliberate. With Halloween creeping up, a biohazard-themed season makes complete sense.

Two zombie modes, two very different experiences

The split between Infected Zone (PvPvE) and Zombie Endless (PvE) is smart design. They're not the same mode reskinned. They serve completely different player appetites.

Infected Zone drops the classic ABI formula, tactical extraction with real players hunting each other, into maps now crawling with six distinct zombie types. Three maps are available at launch: Farm, Valley, and Airport. Valley runs at the standard Infected Zone difficulty, while Farm and Airport are tuned to the harder Heavy Infected Zone tier, which maps to the existing Lockdown and Forbidden difficulty brackets respectively.

Here's what else is new inside Infected Zone:

  • Exclusive containers and emergency missions layered on top of the core Search, Combat, and Extract loop
  • In-zone merchants where players can offload miscellaneous items for high-value loot and intel
  • A new out-of-match progression system called Zombie Research, where points earned in Infected Zone unlock permanent abilities

Zombie Endless is the pure PvE experience. Pick a role, gear up, and see how long you last against endless hordes. Merchants appear mid-run to sell weapon upgrades and new skills, so there's actual progression even within a single session. The mode is locked to Airport and requires reaching Level 8 to unlock.

New weapons entering the meta

Season 7 adds two new guns and the first batch of seasonal weapon attachments in ABI's history.

The A545 sits at the top tier alongside the U191 and H416, giving players a third high-end option rather than forcing everyone into the same two rifles. The AK-15SC is positioned as a close-to-mid-range punisher built around high damage output.

The four new seasonal attachments expand existing weapon builds:

These aren't cosmetic additions. They change how those weapons handle, which means loadout experimentation is back on the table.

Balance changes the community actually wanted

Here's the thing: MoreFun explicitly credits community feedback for the balance pass in Season 7, and the changes reflect that. This isn't a list of micro-tweaks buried in patch notes.

The major adjustments:

  • Increased effective range across the weapon base
  • Increased headshot effectiveness
  • T5/T6 armor penetration RNG removed entirely, making high-tier armor performance more predictable
  • Flashlights nerfed (no more blinding everything in sight)
  • Mode-based ammo and gear caps introduced: Normal mode is capped at T4, Lockdown at T5

The gear cap change is the one to watch. It directly limits how much of an advantage heavily geared players have in lower-difficulty modes, which should make Normal mode raids feel less punishing for players who aren't running full T5 kits.

Post-raid feedback gets an upgrade too

Smaller but genuinely useful: the post-combat recognition system is getting work done. New inspection animations for dogtags add a bit of weight to finishing a fight. Players can now also see detailed damage dealt and received in the final 30 seconds of a raid, plus share raid highlights and achievements directly.

These aren't mode-defining changes, but they make individual raids feel more meaningful. Extraction shooters live and die on the emotional payoff of each run, and this addresses that.
