Ubisoft released New Game+ for Assassin's Creed Valhalla on November 5, 2026, through the free title update 1.8.0. Players can now restart Eivor's journey with their progression intact, with each subsequent run becoming progressively harder.

The addition reverses Ubisoft's 2022 decision not to add the mode. It also follows Valhalla passing 40 million players, nearly six years after its 2020 launch. Ubisoft has named the patch the “Most Requested Update.”

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the open-world action RPG follows Eivor, a Norse warrior whose clan leaves Norway because of conflict and scarce resources. Their journey takes them across the North Sea to establish a foothold in Dark Ages England.

The campaign combines raids, political alliances, and settlement-building across England's fractured kingdoms. Eivor's clan faces Saxon rulers, rival factions, and King Aelfred of Wessex as it works to secure territory.

How to unlock New Game+

Complete Holy Day, the final quest in the Hamtunscire region, to access New Game+. You can use the Assassin's Creed Valhalla guides while working through the campaign. Reaching the true ending is not required, as Ubisoft placed the unlock earlier because of the game's size.

New Game+ arrives in Valhalla

Mithril raises the Divine Gear upgrade ceiling

Divine Gear's maximum upgrade level has increased from 13 to 27.

Platinum, previously exclusive to Dawn of Ragnarök, is now available for gear upgrades without requiring that expansion. Players without the DLC can use the material to improve their equipment.

Ravensthorpe gets storage and expanded rune crafting

The Rune Forge now has an upgrade menu and a new top rune tier.

  • Lesser to normal: costs silver.
  • Normal to greater: costs silver.
  • Superior tier: is available only through upgrading.

The forge's engraving page now offers more than 300 engravable runes. It covers perks added since Valhalla's release, including those from DLC and equipment purchased through the Helix Store.

Engraving requires the corresponding weapon or a complete armor set. Players can then place its perk on a rune for 450 silver, making that equipment effect available through the rune system.

PS5 Pro support and new completion goals

The patch also introduces a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe from Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Combat adjustments accompany the new features, including changes to weapon damage, skill bonuses, and Masteries. These sit alongside the expanded equipment and rune upgrade systems in the same update.

Two new achievements give returning players specific completion targets:

  • Ivaldi's Heir: fully upgrade a piece of Divine Gear.
  • Circle of Renewal: complete a New Game+ run.
