Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game hit PS5 and PC on July 23, 2026, exactly as scheduled , but Xbox Series X|S players woke up to silence. Developer Gameplay Group International has not issued any statement explaining why the Xbox version is absent at launch, leaving a portion of the player base without access to one of the most anticipated fighting games of the year.

What launched and what didn't
The game is live right now on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, with full cross-play between those two platforms. Both the Standard Edition ($29.99) and the Deluxe Edition ($49.99) are available to purchase on those storefronts today. The Deluxe Edition bundles in a digital art book, official soundtrack, exclusive HUDs, and the Year 1 Pass covering five post-launch DLC characters.
The Xbox Series X|S version, which was listed as a launch platform alongside PS5 and PC, simply did not go live. No patch notes, no delay announcement, no community post. Nothing.
A launch day gap that raises questions
Here's the thing: a silent platform delay on launch day is unusual even by gaming standards. Most studios flag platform-specific issues weeks in advance, especially when certification processes with Microsoft can surface problems early. Gameplay Group International has said nothing publicly, which makes it hard to tell whether this is a certification hold, a last-minute technical issue, or something else entirely.
The game itself is a 2D 1v1 fighter built around the worlds of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. It launches with 12 playable characters, eight stages, rollback netcode, ranked and casual online modes, and a training mode. Each fighter comes with three selectable support characters for extra move customization. That's a fairly complete package for a $29.99 entry point, which makes the Xbox absence sting more for players on that platform.
What Xbox players are missing right now
The launch roster includes characters from both animated series, with pre-order bonuses offering gold costume variants for Aang, Korra, Zuko, Katara, Toph, and Sokka, plus a Samurai Appa support skin. Pre-orders also lock in eligibility to vote for the fifth Year 1 Pass DLC character, with candidates including Tenzin, Kuvira, Amon, King Bumi, and Asami Sato. That vote is expected to open later this summer.
Four of the five Year 1 Pass characters are already confirmed: Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, and Bolin. Xbox players risk missing the pre-order voting window entirely if the delay stretches past the voting deadline.
A Nintendo Switch version with physical editions published by PM Studios is also planned for later in 2026, so that platform was always expected to arrive after launch. Xbox was not.
No timeline, no communication
What most players miss in situations like this is that the silence itself is a signal. When a delay has a clean, fixable cause, studios usually say so quickly to manage community expectations. The lack of any statement from Gameplay Group International suggests either the issue is still being diagnosed or the communication strategy is still being figured out.
