PlayStation Plus Premium games list for July 2026 | Eurogamer.net

Nine games are about to disappear from PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, and the clock is already ticking. Sony is set to pull the titles from the catalogue in August, meaning subscribers who have been sitting on these games in their library queue are running out of time to actually play them.

How PS Plus catalogue removals actually work

This catches a lot of subscribers off guard, so it's worth spelling out clearly. The games available through PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium are not the same as the monthly Essential titles. When you claim a monthly Essential game before the deadline, it stays in your library as long as your subscription is active. Extra and Premium catalogue games work differently.

Once a catalogue title leaves the service, your access ends. Downloading the game before the removal date does not save you. After the license expires, the game shows a lock symbol and becomes unplayable unless you buy it separately. Your save data typically stays intact in cloud storage, which is useful if you decide to purchase the game later, but the game itself is gone from your rotation.

Check the "Last Chance to Play" section on your PlayStation console to confirm the exact removal date in your region, as timing can vary.

The 9 games leaving in August

Sony has not yet published a formal announcement naming all 9 titles, but the removal is flagged as coming with the August catalogue update. The games span a mix of role-playing games, open-world adventures, and trophy-heavy releases, which matters because those genres demand serious time investment. Finishing a 40-hour RPG in a few days is a different ask than wrapping up a short action game.

Subscribers should check the "Last Chance to Play" section directly on their PS4 or PS5 for the confirmed list, as regional availability can sometimes differ slightly.

Trophy hunters and save data: what to sort out now

For players mid-playthrough on any of these titles, the priority is finishing main story content before the deadline. The key here is not leaving it to the final days, especially for longer games where a single playthrough can run 30 to 60 hours. Platinum hunters in particular will want to audit how many trophies remain and whether the grind is realistic in the remaining window.

Cloud save backups are worth enabling now if you haven't already. If you end up buying a departing title later, having your progress synced means you won't restart from scratch. PS Plus subscribers on Extra and Premium tiers get cloud storage included, so there's no reason not to use it.

Players who are deep into any of the leaving games and want to keep going after August should monitor the PlayStation Store for discounts. Sony frequently runs sales on titles around the time they exit the catalogue, making it a reasonable window to pick up a permanent copy at a lower price.

What replaces them matters too

Sony typically announces the new PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium lineup shortly before the monthly catalogue update goes live. The August additions usually drop alongside or just after the monthly Essential games announcement. If the outgoing 9 titles are being replaced by a strong August lineup, the sting of losing access is easier to absorb.

For players looking to stay on top of everything hitting PS Plus and beyond, the gaming guides hub is worth bookmarking. And if you're picking up any of the staying titles or new arrivals, the FF7 Rebirth Xbox achievement guide is a solid example of how to approach a trophy list without burning out on a long game. There's also a free PSN avatar offer running right now through Saros that's worth grabbing before those codes expire too.
