MP Destruction Sandbox 'BeastLink' Announced for PC & Consoles, Closed Beta Details | DayOne

The wait for large-scale kaiju destruction just got a hard date. Grove Street Games announced that BeastLink, its multiplayer kaiju action game, will hit PC Early Access via Steam on August 18. Console players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series will have to sit tight until the full launch, which doesn't have a date yet.

What Grove Street Games is actually building here

The core hook of BeastLink is the BeastLink mechanic itself. Players collect serum scattered across war-torn urban maps, and building up enough of it lets you merge with dormant Kaiju, each one carrying distinct abilities and combat styles. The pitch is that the more your Link grows, the harder it becomes to control, which adds a risk-reward layer to transforming mid-match.

Here's the thing: the battlefield isn't just humans running around waiting to transform. The game puts humans, vehicles, and fully active Beasts on the same map simultaneously. Cars, helicopters, tanks, and aircraft are all deployable, meaning a single match can swing from infantry skirmishes to a Kaiju leveling an entire city block while a helicopter tries to flank it.

Grove Street Games is leaning hard on a proprietary system they call SuperDestruction. The claim is that maps contain hundreds of thousands of individually destructible items, with physics-based collapse meaning buildings don't just disappear but fold and crumble in real time. Every match effectively ends with a different skyline than it started with.

The scale they're targeting

Matches support up to 32 players with multiple active Beasts running simultaneously. That's the number to watch during Early Access, because 32-player lobbies with destructible environments and several giant monsters active at once is a significant technical stress test. Early Access will likely reveal how well the SuperDestruction system holds up under real server load rather than controlled demo conditions.

The Beast roster is described as growing, which signals that Grove Street Games is treating Early Access as a live content period rather than a static beta. Expect new Kaiju to roll out over the Early Access window before the full console launch.

important
The August 18 date is for PC Early Access only. PS5 and Xbox Series versions are confirmed but have no release date attached yet. If you're on console, this one's a waiting game for now.

Why the PC-first approach makes sense

Releasing in Early Access on PC before a full console launch is a pattern that suits games with large-scale multiplayer systems. PC players effectively stress-test the destruction engine, balance the human-versus-beast power curve, and surface bugs across a wider hardware range before the game ships to console audiences who expect a more polished day-one experience.

For players who enjoy this kind of team-based, large-scale action, it's worth drawing a comparison to Tokyo Beast, another title that blends creature combat with team mechanics. If that style of gameplay is already on your radar, BeastLink's August 18 Early Access window is worth a spot on your Steam wishlist.

The full picture of what Early Access will include, including pricing, content scope, and roadmap, hasn't been fully detailed beyond the announcement. You'll want to keep an eye on the Steam page as August 18 approaches for that breakdown.

If you're looking to get ahead on similar titles in the meantime, the Tokyo Beast strategy guides cover team building, reward systems, and beginner fundamentals that translate well to this style of game.
