BMX has announced the SolidSafe Duo, a compact magnetic power bank designed around the proportions of Apple's reported upcoming foldable iPhone, referred to by the company as iPhone Duo. The accessory combines a custom 5,000mAh semi-solid-state battery with a rotating ring stand, charging display, and built-in USB-C cable.
The SolidSafe Duo measures 77 x 88 x 11mm, with BMX designing the power bank to remain within the reported phone's edges while attached. The company says the form factor allows the battery to provide additional capacity without interfering with the foldable device's different screen positions.
The power bank is available through the BMX website for $79.99/£79.99. It is also expected to launch through Amazon in the US and UK from October 2026.
360-Degree Ring Stand Supports the Foldable Screen
The SolidSafe Duo includes an integrated 360-degree rotating ring stand intended to accommodate the different ways a foldable phone can be positioned.
When the phone is used in portrait orientation, the stand can support activities such as reading and messaging. Landscape orientation is intended for watching videos and other content, while the partially folded position can be used for hands-free calls and viewing.
The rotating mechanism allows the SolidSafe Duo to remain attached while the phone changes position. This means users do not need to remove the magnetic power bank when switching between different ways of using the foldable display.
“We wanted the battery to feel made for the phone, with a custom fit and a stand that supports how people actually use the folding screen,” said Barry Miller, Head of Marketing at BMX.
Up to 15W Wireless and 20W Wired Charging
The SolidSafe Duo supports magnetic wireless charging at up to 15W. Its attached USB-C lanyard cable can provide up to 20W of wired output.
The integrated cable also supports up to 15W input for recharging the power bank. Since the USB-C cable remains attached to the accessory, BMX says users do not need to carry a separate charging cable.
A full-color TFT LCD on the front displays the remaining battery capacity alongside live charging wattage. This gives users information about both the power bank's remaining charge and the current charging rate.
The power bank uses a CNC-machined aluminum enclosure designed to provide rigidity and assist with heat dissipation during charging. Its 11mm thickness keeps the accessory compact while housing the 5,000mAh battery.
Semi-Solid-State Battery Technology
The SolidSafe Duo's 5,000mAh battery uses a custom-made semi-solid-state cell. BMX says the cell contains significantly less liquid electrolyte than conventional lithium-ion battery technology.
According to the company, the reduced liquid electrolyte content lowers the amount of flammable electrolyte inside the cell and helps reduce fire risks associated with heat, physical damage, or internal short circuits.
BMX also says the semi-solid-state design provides greater flexibility when developing a battery around the specific dimensions of a device. In the case of the SolidSafe Duo, this has allowed the company to develop a 5,000mAh power bank around the reported proportions of the iPhone Duo while retaining magnetic charging and the integrated stand.
The product is housed in a black CNC-machined aluminum body and is designed specifically around the reported footprint of the foldable iPhone.
