Call of Duty: Modern Warfare ships with a campaign that hides optional loot behind locked containers spread across four missions. Most require you to track down a nearby note or solve a number sequence to figure out the code. Miss them and you walk past contraband, collectibles, and at least one trophy-tied item without ever knowing they were there.

Here's the lowdown on every code, organized by mission.

Following Orders: the toolbox you can also just shoot

The Following Orders mission keeps things simple. There is one locked toolbox sitting in a side room on the right as you search a civilian house. The code is hidden inside a Baekseolgi-Tteok Recipe note found nearby, but if you can't be bothered hunting for it, the game actually lets you shoot the lock off instead.

The code is 214. Opening it the proper way nets you a note and a piece of contraband.

Assassins: story-critical doors you can't skip

The Assassins mission has three keypads, but these are not optional. They are part of the main story path, and your radio will feed you each code as you reach the corresponding door. Turn subtitles on so you don't miss them mid-firefight.

  • First door: 5523
  • Second door: 7632
  • Third door: 9103

No collectibles are locked behind these, so there's no reason to stress if you enter them on autopilot.

Stranded: six keypads, one big loot run

This is where things get interesting. Stranded is the largest mission in terms of optional content, with six keypads scattered across a wide area. Each one opens a shipping container or door leading to loot, and each has a hint note attached that gives you three four-digit numbers in a sequence. The code is the next logical number in that pattern.

Or you skip the math entirely:

LocationCode
Base Camp0024
Cliff Near Base Camp0600
South of Jamming Station8609
Big Sign1234
South East Village0078
Small Island6789

All six are marked on your map, so none of them require serious exploration. The bigger challenge is just taking the time to stop and open them during what is otherwise a fairly active mission.

Escape: the safe that unlocks a trophy

The Escape mission has one safe, and it matters more than the others. Inside are Gaz's Dog Tags, which trigger the Never Forgotten trophy and achievement. The safe appears near Ghost's line, "Garage is close," and a note in an unlocked side room nearby reveals the combination if you want to find it yourself.

The code is 8410.

What most players miss is that the Dog Tags are easy to walk past if you're focused on the mission objective. Slow down when Ghost gives that line and check the surrounding area before pushing forward.
