Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 is available to download on PS5 right now, and it is one of the bigger free updates CD Projekt Red has dropped since the Phantom Liberty era. The patch clocks in at close to 11GB and arrives alongside the second season of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, which explains the timing and a chunk of the new content.
What the Edgerunners 2 tie-in actually adds
The most story-relevant addition is a new side quest called Clampdown, set directly before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. To unlock it, you need to have completed The Heist and finished two gigs for Wakako, then wait for her message. Clear that quest and you'll earn a 5-piece gear set based on the character King. There's also a second new side quest called Welcome to Paradise, which takes V on a narrated tour of Night City guided by Richard Night himself. That one unlocks after completing The Heist and hitting Street Cred level 15.
Rounding out the Edgerunners content is a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, pulling tracks from both seasons of the anime series.
Dual-wielding, cyberware skins, and a lot of new fashion
Here's the thing that will change how a lot of builds play out: the new Double Trouble perk in the Cool skill tree lets V dual-wield Power category pistols and revolvers, with four auxiliary perks branching off from it. It's a whole new combat style, not just a cosmetic toggle.
On the customization side, Glamdocs are now a thing. Five new locations across Night City, each with their own intro scene, voiceover, and animations, let you apply skins and custom colors to your Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, or Projectile Launch System. The Glamdoc spots are marked with a spray paint icon on the map.
Clothing vendors across different districts are now stocking five new outfit sets (Maxiwear, Jinguji, NetWatch, IconAmerica, and a fifth set arriving slightly later), plus the NUS Infiltrator set in Kabuki and Japantown. Some NPC-exclusive hairstyles are now available for V as well, though a few are locked to specific body types. Four new TWINTONE skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech are also available through Twitch Drops.
Console mod support is the headline feature for PS5 players
Update 2.5 introduces cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io, letting PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S players browse and install community mods directly from the in-game menu for the first time. The feature is also available on PC and Mac. The initial catalog will expand over time, and the system works the same way CD Projekt Red previously implemented it in The Witcher 3 Remastered.
For quality-of-life changes, the update adds an FOV slider on consoles, groups saves by separate playthroughs in the Load Game menu, adds item filters to apartment and vehicle stashes, and marks modded saves with a dedicated icon. Small stuff individually, but the kind of changes that make returning to a long save feel a lot less messy.
On the technical side, PC players get DLSS 4.5 support with up to 6X Multi Frame Generation, while PS5 Pro owners benefit from dedicated performance optimizations. The update also fixes the long-standing issue where adjusting HDR settings on PS5 had no effect, which is a fix that was overdue.
12 new tarot cards and Photo Mode upgrades
For completionists, 12 new Minor Arcana Tarot Cards are scattered across Night City. Scanning any of them triggers a new side quest extending Fool on the Hill, and collecting all of them unlocks a special reward. The Tarot menu now splits Major and Minor Arcana into separate sections.
Photo Mode also gets new frames pulled from the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game, letting you style screenshots as custom card art, plus new poses for dual-wielding.
