Two clips posted on 4 October 2026 show an Enhancement Shaman dropping opponents in roughly two hits during duels in the WoW Forever beta. The clips went around fast. But that same week, players on Blizzard's own beta forums called the spec underwhelming. So which is it?
The honest answer, from someone who has spent 30-plus hours in the beta as a Paladin main with a level 11 Shaman alt, is: it depends on whether you're watching a highlight reel or reading the patch notes.

The Clips That Started the Conversation
Both clips come from @ClipsForeverWoW on 4 October 2026:
- In the first, an Enhancement Shaman drops @graycen in about two hits during a duel. The weapon credited is the new two-hand mace Rage of the Storm. Watch the clip
- In the second, @Kalvishwow duels an Enhancement Shaman. At range, things look manageable. Once the Shaman closes the gap, roughly 800 damage lands in a single global cooldown. Watch the clip
Both clips are striking. Neither tells you how often that burst is reproducible.
What Changed for Enhancement in WoW Forever
Several meaningful changes distinguish Enhancement Shaman in WoW Forever from its Classic counterpart.
Stormstrike
Stormstrike's cooldown has been cut from 20 seconds down to 8 seconds. It now also buffs your own next Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, or Earth Shock on the target by 20%. That is a significant throughput increase compared to Classic.
Shamanistic Focus and Maelstrom Weapon
Shamanistic Focus reduces the cost of Shocks and Lightning Shield by 45%. Maelstrom Weapon at rank 5, five stacks, makes the next Lightning Bolt instant and free. Both talents push the spec toward a fast, reactive playstyle. (Same guide)
Two-Handers and Rage of the Storm
The spec is built around two-handed weapons.
Rage of the Storm is the weapon appearing in both clips. Its stats:
It is a reward from The Tempest's Weapons, the final quest in a five-quest Shaman chain that begins at level 30 with Call of Air. At the end of the chain, players choose between Rage of the Storm, Tidebringer's Claw, and Lightning's Grasp.
Windfury
Players on the official forum report the personal proc chance for Windfury at 20%. The October change was that no player can benefit from more than one air totem at a time. No Blizzard post has confirmed the exact numbers. (Blizzard forums, 3 Oct 2026)
What the Beta Forums Are Saying
The clips are not the whole picture. A beta thread titled "Enhance Shaman", opened 29 September, describes the spec as "basically classic without any plus" for PvE, with Maelstrom Weapon "nerfed into the ground". (Blizzard forums)
That is a very different read from the clip outrage. The spec may be capable of explosive PvP burst under the right conditions while feeling unremarkable in PvE; both things can be true at once.
One Beta Player's Take
For what it is worth, here is a ground-level view from someone who has played the beta extensively but has not personally duelled an Enhancement Shaman:

I've not seen many Shamans at all, if I'm honest. I've mainly seen Paladins in the Undead area. But yeah, that is wild, that you can go 100 to 0 that quickly. Does the burst come from the spec or the weapon? I honestly have no idea. I assume it's based on a percentage chance, rather than guaranteed every time.
As for how a tank Paladin holds up against it, I'm unsure how it works on a full-power tank Paladin, but if it's doing that sort of damage, it probably won't matter what the Paladin's up to. I could be wrong; we might want to look into the numbers more.
On whether a nerf arrives before the 4 November launch: Blizzard will always be nerfing something. If there's anything that's ever going to be true, it's: the grass is green, the sky is blue, and World of Warcraft players are going to complain that PvP is not balanced. So, from that one clip, it has to be. But is that repeatable 100% of the time? Who knows?
The Bottom Line
The clips are real, and the damage is eye-catching. Rage of the Storm plus a Windfury proc plus the reduced Stormstrike cooldown can clearly produce burst that ends a duel in seconds. Whether that combination fires consistently enough to call the spec broken is a different question, and one the beta forums are actively arguing about in the opposite direction.
This is beta. Balance will move. Watch the patch notes.
