Farworld Labs Raises $1.75M for Farcade Platform

Farworld Labs has closed a $1.75 million funding round to expand its Farcade platform. Lemniscap and Variant co-led the round, with additional backing from Base Ecosystem Fund and Coinbase Ventures.

Roderik van der Graaf, managing partner at Lemniscap, said: "Farworld Labs is at the vanguard of innovation at the intersection of decentralized social media and web3 gaming — verticals that Lemniscap has a rich and storied history with."

What is Farworld Labs?

The money will fund Farworld Labs' third-quarter rollout of Farcade, a platform designed to let developers build crypto-native games that integrate directly with on-chain social media protocols. The goal is to fill the void left when traditional web2 platforms locked down third-party gaming development.

When Meta (formerly Facebook) shut down third-party app development, it killed off a wave of gaming integration experiments on social platforms. Farcade wants to bring that back in a decentralized format, drawing comparisons to early Steam and Zynga.

Co-founders Charlie Blackstock and Bobby Blackstock see Farcaster, the protocol powering Farcade, as the key to making this work. "We saw a really unique opportunity in the sector that Farcaster enables — similar to the early days of Zynga when FarmVille was launched on Facebook."

Season 1 of Farworld

Farworld Labs has already proven the concept works. The team launched an MVP of its flagship game and pulled in over $500,000 in revenue within three months. The platform runs on Warpcast, an app within the Farcaster ecosystem that simplifies social gameplay and native marketing through on-chain interactions.

Season 1 of Farworld will expand the user base with a monster training game that runs without requiring downloads from traditional app stores. Co-founder Charlie Blackstock explained:

"The current web3 gaming landscape is blighted by walled gardens, requiring users to connect their wallets, pay gas fees, and link their social media accounts before they even have a chance to engage."

Final Thoughts

Farworld Labs is betting that decentralized social media and web3 gaming can merge into something that actually works. The $1.75 million gives them runway to launch Farcade and prove whether blockchain-based games can integrate with social platforms without the friction that's killed most web3 onboarding attempts.

The third-quarter releases will show whether the team can deliver on the promise of accessible, integrated gaming experiences within on-chain social media. For more information, check the official social media account on X here.
