Crypto gaming studio Uncharted has officially launched its web3 RPG Fishing Frenzy on the Ronin network, marking the beginning of the game's first seasonal campaign titled Uncharted Waters. Following a successful alpha phase that reported over 9 million installs and around 450,000 active players, this new release introduces several gameplay features designed to expand earning opportunities and enhance player engagement.

As part of its official launch, Fishing Frenzy has rolled out a new progression and reward system called Frenzy Points, built to reward active players within the game's web3 ecosystem. Frenzy Points form the backbone of the game's play-to-airdrop campaign, giving players opportunities to earn future rewards through in-game activity and contributions.

The Uncharted Waters campaign brings a wave of updates to Fishing Frenzy. Key features include NFT rods, Shiny Fish, cooking, emblems, a battle pass system, a VIP progression system, and the new Frenzy Points reward structure. NFT rods can be acquired through minting, trading, or opening chests.
These rods degrade with use and need gold to repair, but they boost your chances of catching Shiny Fish—rare, tradeable NFT versions of standard fish. Shiny Fish can be sold on Ronin's marketplace, with prices shifting based on rarity and demand. At the time of writing, the cheapest Shiny Fish costs 0.052 $RON, while the most affordable NFT rods and Common Founder Chests are priced at 0.10 $RON and 1.15 $RON, respectively.
Cooking is a new mechanic that lets players turn their catches into sashimi. Selling sashimi earns Pearls, which are spent on a reward wheel that drops gold, bait, sushi, chests, and Frenzy Points. Recipes change daily, so you'll need to adjust your fishing strategy accordingly. Players who participated in the first testing phase and owned pets or chests have been given emblems, which are expected to unlock future in-game benefits.
The battle pass comes in two tiers: a free version and a premium version costing 20 $RON. Completing milestones earns Frenzy Points and other items. The VIP system grants multipliers and exclusive rewards based on how much $RON you spend in-game, with each $RON equating to five VIP Points. Frenzy Points are positioned as a valuable in-game currency tied to future reward distributions, potentially including a token airdrop.

Access, Rewards, XP and Gold
Players can jump into Fishing Frenzy directly through web browsers on any device. Log in with email, social accounts, or web3 wallets like MetaMask and Ronin Wallet. The core loop is straightforward: cast your line, wait for a bite, then complete a mini-game to reel in your catch. Each cast drains energy, which regenerates through in-game actions like selling fish to buy sushi. Every cast and catch feeds into your progression and earning potential.
Gold comes from selling fish, and you'll spend it on essentials like sushi, which restores energy. Daily and special quests offer additional resources. Competing in weekly fishing and cooking leaderboards can earn you NFT chests. These chests can be traded or opened for a shot at valuable NFT rods that boost your odds of catching Shiny Fish.
Leaderboards rank players by XP gained through fishing or cooking, with separate boards giving newer players a shot at rewards. Cooking XP is earned by successfully preparing fish based on daily recipes, while fishing XP accumulates through catches, especially rare ones. Different bait types improve your chances of landing rarer fish.

Frenzy Points and VIP System Rewards
Frenzy Points are the primary reward system introduced this season. You can collect them through the battle pass, the VIP system, spinning the reward wheel, and referring new players. Referrals earn you five percent of the Frenzy Points your invites generate. Players who finish in the top 100 of the weekly fishing or cooking leaderboards also receive Frenzy Points.
Another route to exclusive benefits is owning a Founders Pass NFT. Only 888 of these passes exist, each granting access to unique cosmetics, upcoming ecosystem-wide rewards, and a future token airdrop. At the time of writing, the floor price for a Founders Pass is 430 $RON. A recent snapshot of holders rewarded those who kept their passes in their in-game wallet and didn't list them on a marketplace with gold and VIP Points.

The Uncharted Waters campaign launched on April 9 and runs through the end of May.
