Miss this one and you miss free cosmetics. The Shattered live event closing out Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 goes live on Friday, June 5, and participation is the only way to lock in the rewards Epic Games is handing out.
What the Shattered event is actually about
The Ice King vs. Foundation rivalry that has defined Chapter 7 Season 2 finally gets its conclusion here. Shattered is the official name for the end-of-season live event, and it plays out as a one-time-only experience before the season closes for good. Once it's done, it's done. There's no replay, no catch-up option.
Chapter 7 Season 3 launches on Saturday, June 6, so the window between the event ending and the new season dropping is tight.

The event kicks off at 7 p.m. EDT on Friday, June 5. Here's what that looks like across time zones:
Join the Shattered event at least 40 minutes early. Server load during live events regularly causes lobby delays, and Epic does not hold spots for late arrivals.
How to find the event in the lobby
Shattered will appear in the top row of the Discover tab. From the Fortnite lobby, scroll down to reach the Discover tab and the event tile will be pinned at the very top. You won't need to search for it, but you do need to actively queue in rather than wait in a standard battle royale lobby.
Free rewards and the one catch
Every player who participates walks away with the Chaos Cutlasses pickaxe. That one has no conditions attached. The second reward, the Bark Voyager sidekick, requires you to join the event with at least one friend in your party. Both rewards are distributed when Chapter 7 Season 3 goes live on June 6, not immediately after the event ends.
The key here is that the Bark Voyager sidekick is genuinely worth grabbing, and the bar to earn it is low. Just bring one friend into the lobby and you're set.
