Fortnite confirms Overwatch crossover ...

Two of the biggest names in live-service gaming just collided. The Fortnite x Overwatch collaboration went live on May 14, 2026, dropping a wave of content from Blizzard's long-running hero shooter directly into Epic Games' Battle Royale, Zero Build, Reload, and Blitz modes.

Here's the lowdown on everything that just hit the island.

The skins arriving in the item shop

Four Overwatch heroes are now available to buy in the Fortnite Item Shop: Tracer, Mercy, Genji, and D.Va. Each outfit comes with matching accessories and Lego styles, so the crossover extends beyond Battle Royale into Lego Fortnite as well. That's a broader reach than most collabs, which tend to stick to one mode.

What most players miss with crossovers like this is how much the accessory sets add to the package. These aren't just reskins with a new hat slapped on. The accompanying items are built around each character's identity, which matters a lot when you're spending V-Bucks on cosmetics you'll be staring at for hundreds of hours.

New weapons and allies joining the loot pool

Two iconic Overwatch weapons are entering the loot pool alongside the collab. Tracer's Pulse Pistols and Mercy's Caduceus Staff are now available to find in matches, giving the crossover some actual gameplay weight rather than just cosmetic flair. The key here is that these aren't reskinned existing weapons; they're additions tied directly to the characters they represent.

Beyond the weapons, players can recruit Genji and D.Va as Overwatch allies in-game. These characters fight alongside you during matches, and Epic has confirmed more allies will be available, though the full roster beyond those two hasn't been announced yet.

Hanamura, King's Row, and the new Overwatch landmarks

The Fortnite map has been updated with several Overwatch-themed landmarks. Hanamura, Busan Drum Pavilion, King's Row, and various Watchpoints are now scattered across the island. These aren't just decorative; King's Row in particular is tied to a new gameplay mechanic that activates based on the Rivalries Showdown Leaderboard.

Once players on Team Ice King complete enough Fortnite Rivalries matches to hit Milestone 1 on the Showdown Leaderboard, the Overwatch Payload Anomaly unlocks. This spawns a Payload each match at King's Row Tower, and every player who escorts it home earns Overwatch loot. Team Foundation gets their own reward at Milestone 1 in the form of the Overwatch Dropship, though Epic hasn't detailed exactly what that entails yet.

The Payload mechanic is the most interesting wrinkle here. Fortnite has borrowed mechanics from other games before, but pulling one of Overwatch's most recognizable objective types directly into Battle Royale is a different kind of crossover thinking. It's not just slapping a skin on the island.

What this means for players right now

The collab launched alongside a Fortnite server update, so you'll want to make sure your game is fully updated before jumping in. The Item Shop outfits for Tracer, Mercy, Genji, and D.Va are available now, and the new landmarks are live across the standard map.

Collabs at this scale tend to run for a limited window, and Overwatch cosmetics have historically had time-limited availability in their own game too. Pro tip: if any of the four outfits are on your radar, don't assume they'll be in the shop indefinitely.
