Playground Games has confirmed that Forza Horizon 6has officially gone gold, meaning the game is done, pressed to disc, and ready for release. Preloads are live right now on Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Xbox app, with Steam support on the way. Early Access kicks off May 15 for Premium Edition owners, and the full global launch follows on May 19.
How much storage you actually need
The file sizes are substantial, so clear some space now rather than scrambling on launch day. Xbox Series X needs at least 135GB, Series S requires 130GB, and the PC version comes in heaviest at 160GB with an SSD mandatory. Anyone who pre-ordered any edition, or holds an active Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription, can start downloading immediately.
Here's the thing: if you already grabbed the placeholder preload file, Playground Games recommends checking for updates on your platform to make sure the complete game files are actually installed. A placeholder is not the full game, and finding that out at 11:59 PM on May 14 would be painful.

The biggest soundtrack in Horizon history
Music has always been a selling point for this series, and Forza Horizon 6 is going bigger than any previous entry. The game ships with 9 radio stations and the largest track count in Horizon history. The full tracklist for every station will roll out across the official @ForzaHorizon social channels over the coming days, with Spotify playlists for each station planned before launch.
Two stations have been fully revealed so far. Horizon Bass Arena leans hard into electronic and dance, featuring FISHER, Subtronics, ISOxo, Calvin Harris, and Dom Dolla. Horizon XS is the rock and alternative station, and it is stacked: Linkin Park, BABYMETAL (two tracks), Rise Against, Coheed and Cambria, Spiritbox, Pendulum, Turnstile, and ONE OK ROCK are all confirmed. ResetEra reactions to the Horizon XS lineup have been enthusiastic, with multiple users calling it the best version of the station yet.
The bigger story is what the Japan setting makes possible. J-pop is making its Horizon Festival debut for the first time in the series, with YOASOBI's "Idol" reportedly appearing on Gacha City Radio according to community members who spotted tracks before the remaining playlists were made private. The other 7 stations, including Hospital Records, Sub Pop Records, Horizon Pulse, Horizon Block Party, Horizon Wave, and Horizon Opus, are still being revealed.

Performance modes across Xbox Series X and Series S
Playground Games is giving console players a choice between Quality and Performance rendering modes on both Xbox Series consoles. The breakdown looks like this:
Both consoles use dynamic resolution scaling in Performance mode to hold their target framerates. Ray tracing on console has not been confirmed; based on community discussion, it appears to be a PC-exclusive feature for now.

Accessibility additions worth knowing about
Forza Horizon 6 is adding new accessibility options on top of the series' existing suite. High Contrast Mode is the headline addition, simplifying on-screen elements to improve visual clarity, with full customization so players can tune it to their specific needs. AutoDrive lets you hand navigation over to ANNA while you take in the scenery, and Proximity Radar flags nearby vehicles to reduce blind-spot collisions, particularly useful in cockpit or bumper camera views.
Sign language support for cinematics is coming post-launch via update, adding picture-in-picture ASL and BSL interpreters with adjustable screen positioning. Controller remapping, color blind filters, screen reading narration, and adjustable difficulty settings all return.
With a PS5 version also confirmed for later in 2026, Forza Horizon 6 is shaping up to reach a wider audience than any previous entry.
