The Shimanoyama Region Treasure Hunt is part of the Series 5 Week 3 Festival Playlist in Forza Horizon 6, running during the British Automotive Festival's Winter season. Smash the chest and you pocket 100,000 Credits, 5,000 XP, and 3 Season Progress points toward the two season reward cars: the Vauxhall Astra VXR 2006 (20 points) and the Bentley Bentayga 2016 (40 points). The photo clue the game gives you is vague enough that half the player base ends up circling the wrong part of the map, so here's exactly where to go.
Where is the Shimanoyama Region Treasure Hunt chest?
The chest sits in the far south of the Shimanoyama region, off a winding road that cuts through snowy hills. More specifically, it's north of the Izu Skyline and southwest of Matsumi Great Bridge, just north of the main freeway connecting Tokyo to the Shimanoyama stadium area.
The chest is placed right at the roadside in a snowy field, so once you're on the correct stretch of road it's hard to miss from either direction.
tip
The chest is visible from the road itself. You don't need to go off-road to reach it. Just keep your speed reasonable as you approach so you don't fly past it.
There are two reliable fast travel approaches depending on which events you've unlocked in the region.
Forza Horizon 6 Guide: Shimanoyama Region Treasure Hunt Chest Location
Fast travel via Lake View Speed Trap
If you have the Orange Wristband unlocked, the Lake View Speed Trap event appears in the southern section of Shimanoyama. Fast travel there, then turn around and drive southeast along the road. The treasure chest will appear on the left side of the road in a snowy field.
Fast travel via Taiyaki Scramble Dirt Racing
The Taiyaki Scramble Dirt Racing event sits to the east of the Speed Trap. Fast travel there instead, then drive south and take the first right turn available. Coming from this direction, the chest appears on the right side of the road.
tip
Both fast travel points drop you within a short drive of the chest. The Speed Trap route is slightly more direct if you're coming from Tokyo.
What rewards do you get?
Smashing the chest gives you the following immediately:
Reward
Amount
Credits
100,000
XP
5,000
Season Progress
3 points
Those 3 Season Progress points stack toward the two British Automotive Festival season cars. The Vauxhall Astra VXR requires 20 points and the Bentley Bentayga requires 40 points, so the Treasure Hunt alone won't get you there, but it's a solid chunk of progress with almost no time investment.
warning
This Treasure Hunt is tied to the Series 5 Week 3 playlist window. Once the week rotates, the chest disappears and the rewards are no longer available until the playlist cycles back.
What else should you complete this week?
Beyond the chest, the Series 5 Week 3 playlist includes the Jaguar Explorer Weekly Challenge. That one requires you to buy the 2010 Jaguar C-X 75, photograph it at Shirakawa-Go, and complete two Road Races before parking it at any Car Meet for 5 points and 25,000 Credits. It's worth doing alongside the Treasure Hunt if you're chasing the season cars.
The photo challenge at the Bamboo Forest also contributes additional Season Progress this week, so pair that with the Treasure Hunt run for an efficient single session.
How does this Treasure Hunt compare to other FH6 chests?
Shimanoyama's chest is one of the more straightforward placements in the current rotation. Compared to some of the trickier hunts, the roadside visibility here means you're not bushwhacking through terrain or decoding an ambiguous photo clue for 20 minutes.
After collecting the Shimanoyama chest, drive directly to the Bamboo Forest photo challenge location. Both objectives sit in the same general area of the map, so combining them in one run saves a fast travel.
