New Insights on Player Reach and Sales Across Platforms

Alinea Analytics responded to high community demand with fresh data on Bloodborne, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Expedition 33. These updates follow the company’s recent deep dive into PlayStation releases on Steam and continue its effort to provide comprehensive estimates based on ongoing engagement trends.

Bloodborne’s estimated reach now sits at 16 million players, supported by long-term access through PlayStation Plus. Approximately 7 million subscribers have engaged with the title through the service, and total direct sales remain at 9.3 million on PlayStation. According to Alinea’s findings, the release of Elden Ring created a notable uptick in Bloodborne activity as new FromSoftware players explored earlier titles.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 continues to show strong momentum on PS5 with an estimated 16 million copies sold. Steam accounts for more than 700,000 players, though performance on the platform is softer than the first Spider-Man due to declining returns for PlayStation titles on PC.

Alinea reports that PS5 sales remain steady at roughly 100,000 to 200,000 units each month, positioning the game as an evergreen complement to new console purchases. The title is projected to grow by another one million units by quarter’s end.

Expedition 33 has accumulated 3.3 million players via Game Pass, alongside more than 5.5 million sold copies across platforms. Steam represents around 3 million of these purchases, while PS5 accounts for roughly 2 million and Xbox for about 500,000.

Alinea notes that Game Pass availability has reduced direct sales on Xbox and PC but continues to drive player reach. During the week of the game’s 11 Game Awards nominations, Steam added 100,000 new sales and PS5 added 50,000, while Xbox contributed fewer than 5,000. Game Pass onboarded an additional 40,000 players during the same period.

How Alinea’s Estimates Compare with Publisher Reports

Alongside player and sales estimates, Alinea Analytics released updated margin-of-error comparisons using newly published milestone announcements from several studios. Cyberpunk 2077 showed near-perfect alignment, with Alinea’s estimate differing from CD Projekt’s official figure by only 0.2%.

ARC Raiders also fell within a narrow margin, differing from Nexon’s announcement by 0.1%. Dragon’s Dogma II and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 landed within mid-single-digit variance, while Red Dead Redemption 2 presented the largest gap at a 10.2% difference from Take-Two’s milestone.

The company states that these metrics reflect its commitment to transparency and its decision not to adjust estimates solely based on external announcements. Alinea highlights that it displays official figures alongside its own data in the platform to maintain clarity for users.

PC Market Accuracy Based on Publicly Reported Milestones

A broader analysis conducted by Alinea across 754 PC sales and player milestones showed a 10% margin of error for titles released this year. The company considers this a reflection of the consistency of its estimation framework, particularly amid an industry where official disclosures remain limited.

Alinea’s model is designed to emphasize stability rather than reactive updates. As more publishers adopt its analytics tools for console and PC tracking, the company reports increased demand from AAA and independent studios looking for dependable market insights.
