Supergiant Games has been running a tight post-launch support cycle for Hades II, and the studio is keeping that streak alive with Hotfix 5, the latest patch in the Post-Launch Patch 2 series. It landed on PC in late July, with Switch 1 and Switch 2 versions expected to follow at an unspecified point.

What pushed Supergiant to ship another fix this fast

Hotfix 4 shipped in June, so the turnaround here is roughly a month. That pace tells you something: the game's boon interaction system is deep enough that edge cases keep surfacing even after full release. Several of the bugs in this patch involve combinations that probably only appear under very specific build conditions, which means they were likely flagged by players running non-standard setups rather than caught in internal testing.

Here's the thing: the fixes in Hotfix 5 are not cosmetic. A handful of them touch core combat behaviors that could directly affect run outcomes.

Every fix in Hotfix 5, broken down

The full list from Supergiant Games covers boon interactions, boss behavior, UI feedback, and narrative systems:

  • Dream Dives: Wells of Charon were disappearing after visiting Ephyra. Fixed.
  • Weed Killer (Demeter) and Dividing Blaze (Daedalus - Flames) had an unintended interaction. Patched.
  • Prominence Flare (Apollo) combined with Phase Shift (Selene) and Purification was behaving incorrectly.
  • Howling Soul (Hades) projectiles were detonating unexpectedly during the Unrivaled Typhon fight.
  • King's Ransom (Zeus x Hera) and Queen's Ransom (Hera x Zeus) were sometimes failing to strip Duo Boons from their respective gods.
  • Vow of Scars (Oath) healing reduction was incorrectly applying to vampiric attacks from the Phantom in the Fields of Mourning.
  • Suffering on Sight (Medea) was triggering enemies to attack earlier than intended when entering Locations in Thessaly.
  • Riposte from Aspect of Artemis was not activating against Infernal Cerberus radial blasts.
  • Unrivaled Prometheus charge-up attacks were continuing after his defeat in certain cases.
  • Moon Beam (Selene) was not reliably spawning a Path of Stars in Tartarus or the Summit.
  • Chronos could become noninteractive in Erebus if you switched Keepsakes mid-encounter.
  • UI feedback for Glorious Disaster (Zeus x Apollo) was not displaying correctly when Magick was insufficient.
  • Engraved Pin (Moros) was causing players to die while selecting a Boon or Path of Stars upgrade.
  • Several voiceover and narrative events were not triggering as expected.
  • Minor text errors and additional small fixes.

What this means if you play on Switch

PC players get the patch immediately. Switch 1 and Switch 2 players are waiting on a separate certification and deployment process, so there is no confirmed date yet. The bugs listed above are present on those platforms in the meantime, so if you are hitting the Chronos softlock or losing runs to the Engraved Pin death bug, the workaround for now is to avoid those specific interactions until the Switch patch lands.

The Arcana Cards system is one area where build choices intersect heavily with these boon interactions. If you are still working out which cards to prioritize, the Hades 2 Arcana Cards tier list breaks down the meta picks and how grasp allocation affects your options.

Supergiant has not announced a Hotfix 6 or any larger content update beyond the current patch cycle, but the cadence of roughly one hotfix per month suggests the studio is actively monitoring player-reported issues. Keep an eye on the official channels for the Switch deployment window, and check our Hades II guides for updated build and progression resources as the patch rolls out across platforms.
