LINE NEXT, the web3 division of the widely used messaging platform LINE, has launched Mini Dapps to advance blockchain adoption across Asia. These applications integrate directly into LINE Messenger, aiming to make web3 services more accessible to the platform's massive user base. The move represents LINE NEXT's push to bring decentralized applications into mainstream use.
LINE's Web3 Mini Dapps
The Mini Dapps offer gaming, social media, and other web3-enabled services. Built on Kaia, a Layer 1 blockchain co-developed with Kakao, these applications connect users with blockchain technology through a familiar interface. The launch includes a Dapp Portal where LINE users can discover decentralized applications and trade digital assets like non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Popular Applications Lead the Launch
The initial Mini Dapps include "Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS-" and Superz. "Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS-" adapts the iconic Japanese manga series into a blockchain-powered gaming experience. Superz focuses on healthcare and wellness, demonstrating the range of applications decentralized technology can support.
LINE NEXT plans to release more than 1,000 Dapps by the end of 2025. This expansion reflects LINE's commitment to establishing itself as a major web3 platform and using its position as a dominant communication tool in Asia to drive adoption.

Mini Dapp and Dapp Portal
Learning from Telegram's Success
LINE NEXT's approach follows Telegram's model, which integrated decentralized applications into its platform last year. Telegram's incorporation of TON blockchain-based games like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat grew its user base from 4 million to 128 million in 12 months. LINE aims to replicate this success by leveraging its existing dominance in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand.
Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT, stated that web3 adoption depends on accessibility and ease of use. Embedding Mini Dapps directly into LINE Messenger removes barriers for millions of users. Ko sees this integration as a potential turning point for web3 adoption, making blockchain technology practical for everyday use.

Mini Play, Big Reward
Aiming for Regional Leadership in Web3
LINE has approximately 200 million global users as of 2024, with strong market presence across Asia. The launch of Mini Dapps and the creation of a decentralized application ecosystem positions LINE NEXT as a leader in web3 innovation. Through strategic partnerships and a user-friendly design, the company is working to make blockchain technology a standard component of digital interaction in the region.
