The Loftia release date is November 3, 2026, when it comes out in Early Access at 1pm EST on Steam and the Epic Games Store, for $29.99, or $24.89 with the launch discount. When Steam first recommended it to me, my reaction was “the fuck is this?” Then I looked properly, and it’s a cozy game I could see a lot of people loving. Maybe not me, though.

Key takeaways

  • Loftia launches into Early Access on November 3 at 1pm EST, on PC and Mac, with a Nintendo Switch version coming in 2027.
  • It costs $29.99, with a 17% launch discount down to $24.89, and there’s no subscription.
  • The art, the building and the movement look lovely, but with no stakes I’m not sure it would hold me.

What time does Loftia come out?

Loftia unlocks at 1pm EST on November 3. That’s 10am PT, 6pm in the UK, 7pm in central Europe and 5am on November 4 on Australia’s east coast. The US clocks go back on November 1, so it really is EST on launch day, not EDT.

You can buy it on Steam or the Epic Games Store, on PC or Mac. The developers, Qloud Games, say the Nintendo Switch version comes in 2027, and that it plays fully on a controller and supports the Steam Deck. Cross-play isn’t promised yet. They’re testing it, and you’d have to buy the game again on each platform anyway.

How much is Loftia?

Loftia is buy-to-play at $29.99 in the US, with regional pricing, and a limited-time 17% launch discount takes it to $24.89, according to the official Loftia FAQ. There’s no subscription, and the developers say they have no plans for paid expansions.

There is a shop, though. You get optional cosmetic microtransactions and a Community Pass, which is a season pass for cosmetic rewards from the game’s group projects. The developers say 93% of cosmetics at launch come from playing, not paying. It’s in Early Access for about a year, and they say the price might go up closer to 1.0.

What is Loftia?

Loftia is a cozy MMO set on floating islands in the sky. You farm, craft, decorate, explore and adopt pets, from capybaras to turtles. The farming is built around a “solarpunk” idea of a better future, so you’re doing hydroponics, aquaponics and trellis farming, and crafting tools with power from the sun, wind and rain.

Your island links up with other players’ islands to make neighborhoods, and everyone chips in on World Projects that open up new areas. The developers call it a “Mediumly Multiplayer Online” game because they’re a small indie studio. It’s online only, but you can play solo without it blocking your progress.

People clearly want it. Qloud Games’ Kickstarter in 2024 asked for $150,000 and raised more than $1.2 million, as PC Gamer reported. Close to 150,000 players tried the demo during October’s Steam Next Fest, and the developers say it was the most streamed game of the fest on Twitch. Progress from that demo carries over into Early Access.

Is Loftia like Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing?

Loftia looks like another cozy game that’s Stardew Valley, but then what is it, Heartopia? That’s XD’s free-to-play multiplayer life sim that came out on Steam in January. Steam is recommending Loftia to me because of my Stardew Valley hours and my Enshrouded hours. I’ve got almost 30 hours in Stardew Valley and under 4 in Enshrouded.

It’s not more Stardew Valley for me, though. It gives me more of the vibe of the one with the raccoon that’s the mobster who demands money off you, on the Nintendo. That’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and the raccoon is Tom Nook with his loans.

It’s definitely Dinkum-esque as well. Dinkum is the life sim set on an island inspired by the Australian outback, which left Early Access in April 2025.

What do I like about Loftia?

I do like the style. I like the way all of it looks, actually, and the building looks lovely as well. The art is lovely too, and it really looks cute.

I like the movement they’ve got going on. You’re sliding along rails and flying little paraglider things. The official Early Access page lists rail boots for the rails around Gridfall, a glider with a propeller upgrade and bounce shoes for the Hanging Gardens. It does look better than some of the other stuff that’s come out in this space before.

The Steam page also shows it won Best Upcoming Game at the Cozy & Family Friendly Games Celebration in 2025, run by Rokaplay. The developers say it won Most Anticipated Game at the Cozy Game Awards this year too. Online co-op seems good as well, and it has Steam Family Sharing, nice.

Would Loftia hold me?

I think I’d struggle with Loftia, because there aren’t any stakes. There’s no pressure loop to explain why you’re building. It would work very well as a cozy game, and it does look like it would be super relaxing to play, but that’s my problem with this type of game.

It’s the same thing I said about Moon Sweepers: games like this are definitely complemented by friends. This definitely looks like the type of thing my girlfriend would 100% play. It’s another one of those games. Maybe not for me, but I can see the appeal for everyone else.
