Marvel Rivals Adds Major Updates

The team behind Marvel Rivals has confirmed that a major update will go live on November 27, 2025 at 09:00:00 UTC, with no server downtime required. Players can simply log in after the update and resume playing as normal.

Major Changes

This update ushers in the game’s first-year anniversary celebrations with a multi-phase event. The first phase begins immediately with the patch launch. Among the highlights is a free login reward: all players who log in during the event window earn 1,500 Units. An “Invite a Friend” feature — called Rivals Assemble! — grants up to 600 Units and an exclusive “Bright Future” emote when players bring a new or returning player into the game. This reward applies even if the players do not team up together.

Another event, Times Square Countdown, is part of the celebration and offers 200 Units and a commemorative title “Rivals’ Day 2025” to those who participate. Players logging in within 72 hours after the countdown can still claim the reward. As part of the festivities, a new game mode becomes available: an 18 vs. 18 Annihilation mode on the new map Grand Garden. This large-scale mode promises intense, chaotic PvP battles for players looking to celebrate the anniversary with friends and foes alike. In addition, the update reintroduces the original Season 1 Battle Pass for a limited time. Players who missed it the first time around now have an opportunity to purchase it.

Black Friday Blowout Sale

From November 28 through December 2, the in-game store will host a Black Friday Blowout sale. Select items — primarily from Season 3 and earlier — receive an initial 20% discount. Purchases during the sale earn players stacking discount coupons, each offering a larger discount than the last, extending savings on cosmetics and bundles. New content is also arriving in the store: a “Venom – Gummy Surprise Bundle” and a “Blade – Restful Recovery Bundle” become available from November 28, 02:00 UTC, available through December 26, 02:00 UTC. A “Marvel Unlimited Bundle” also becomes available from November 28 at 02:00 UTC.

The development team has confirmed a wide range of bug fixes and gameplay improvements across multiple heroes, including work to correct several character-specific issues involving movement, abilities, and target detection. This update marks a significant moment for Marvel Rivals as it celebrates its first year since global launch in December 2024.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are the three roles in Marvel Rivals?
The game divides heroes into Vanguards, Duelists, and Strategists. Each fills a different team function, from frontline control to damage output to support utility.

Which role is best for beginners?
Vanguards are often the most approachable because their focus on positioning and frontline presence is easier to learn than advanced DPS mechanics or support timing.

Do Duelists always need to secure the most eliminations?
Not always, but they are generally responsible for most of a team’s damage and finishing power. Their success directly influences objective control.

Are Strategists only healers?
No. While some provide strong healing, many rely on utility, crowd control, shields, or defensive abilities to support the team.

When should players switch heroes?
Switching is helpful when the team lacks healing, frontline durability, or specific counters to enemy threats. Flexibility often leads to better match outcomes.

Is Marvel Rivals free to play?
Yes, Marvel Rivals is free-to-play and available on the Epic Games Store.
