Nintendo just kicked off its Customer Appreciation Sale, and it's live right now in the United States with up to 30% off a wide selection of first-party Switch games, accessories, and amiibo.
The sale covers both digital titles on the Nintendo eShop and physical copies at major retailers including Amazon and Walmart. The timing is deliberate: Nintendo announced last week that the sale is partly funded by tariff-related refunds the company received after US tariff challenges, making it one of the more unusual origin stories for a gaming sale in recent memory.

The games worth picking up right now
The headliner for a lot of Switch owners will be the Metroid lineup. Metroid Dread drops to $41.99 digitally, a 30% cut from its regular $59.99 price. That timing is no accident: Metroid Ravenous, a direct sequel to Dread, was just revealed during the September 2026 Nintendo Direct, which sent interest in the original spiking overnight.
The Metroid deals don't stop there. Metroid Prime Remastered goes down to $27.99 digitally, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond hits $41.99. If you've been meaning to catch up on the franchise before Ravenous arrives, this is the window to do it.
Beyond Metroid, the sale includes some of Nintendo's biggest recent releases:

The sale extends well beyond software. Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controllers are down to $62.97 at Walmart, a 30% discount from the $89.99 retail price. The Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo drops to $76.99 from $109.99, also 30% off.
On the amiibo side, the Metroid Prime 4: Beyond collection is seeing solid cuts. The Samus and Sylux figures each come in at $20.97, while the Samus and Vi-O-La two-pack sits at $27.97.
For Switch 2 owners looking to expand storage, Walmart has the Onn 512GB MicroSD Express Card at $84.77, with an unadvertised coupon code SAVE3X that takes another $10 off, bringing it down to $74.77. The 256GB model lands at $36.77 with the same code applied.
The tariff refund backstory
Here's the thing: this sale exists partly because of a legal and trade policy saga that played out over the past year. Nintendo raised Switch product prices globally, citing tariffs, component costs, and shipping. After a US court ruled those tariffs illegal, the company received refunds, and it subsequently argued that individual consumers who bought products at the higher prices were not entitled to compensation since they received what they paid for.
The Customer Appreciation Sale is Nintendo's way of directing some of those funds back toward buyers, though fan reaction has been split. Some see it as a genuine gesture, others as a way to get customers to spend more money in order to benefit from refunds that arguably should have come back to them directly.
Whether you find the framing convincing or not, the discounts themselves are real and among the steepest Nintendo has offered on its first-party catalog in a while.
Switch 2 bundle worth noting
Walmart currently has a Nintendo Switch 2 + Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 Bundle for $519, down from a combined MSRP of $569. With Switch 2 consoles now priced at $499.99 on their own, that bundle saves around $70 compared to buying both separately at full price.
For Switch 2 preorders, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is at $59.88 for a physical copy at Amazon, and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave has $10 off at Amazon for preorders, though neither of those are strictly part of the Customer Appreciation Sale itself.
