September is shaping up to be one of the busiest months Pokemon Go has seen in a while. The Twilight Trails season launches this month, and Niantic is packing it with legendary raids, Pokemon debuts, a Community Day Classic, and the big Go Fest Mega Finale all within the first two weeks alone.
Here's the lowdown on everything dropping in Pokemon Go this September.

The Go Fest Mega Finale takes center stage
The headline event is the Go Fest 2026: Mega Finale on September 5-6, capping off this summer's Go Fest run in style. The format mirrors Go Fest proper, with rotating virtual habitats each hosting different wild spawns and Mega Raid bosses. The Remote Raid cap gets lifted entirely for both days, and every Mega-Evolved Pokemon receives a CP boost during the event. Go Pass Deluxe holders get the extra perks: bonus candy and XP from Mega Raids, plus better shiny odds.
Leading into it, the Mega Ascension event runs from August 31 through September 4, cycling a different Mega boss into raids each day. The lineup includes Mega Falinks on September 1 and Mega Skarmory on September 2, both relatively recent additions to the Mega roster. Players who pick a Kalos starter (Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie) during the event's branching Timed Research will receive the Go Pass: Mega Finale, which carries over rewards into the main event.
A packed raid rotation from Zacian to Xerneas
The five-star raid schedule rotates quickly this month. Zacian (Hero of Many Battles form) holds the spotlight from September 9-15, followed immediately by Zamazenta from September 16-22. The Pokemon Sword and Shield mascots don't stick around long, so players targeting either legendary will need to move fast.
From September 23-29, the Ultra Beasts split across regions: Xurkitree in Asia-Pacific, Pheromosa across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India, and Buzzwole in the Americas and Greenland. Xerneas closes out the month starting September 30.
On the Mega side, Mega Beedrill and Mega Houndoom overlap briefly September 11-15 during the Mega Squads event, which is a solid window to stack up Mega Energy on both. Shadow Incarnate Forme Thundurus also enters Shadow Raids from September 9 onward.
Max Battles get an interesting stretch late in the month: Dynamax Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres all appear simultaneously from September 21-27, giving players a rare chance to target all three Kanto birds in a single week.
Gible Community Day Classic and new Pokemon arrivals
The Gible Community Day Classic lands on September 12, running from 2-5 PM local time. Every Gabite evolved into Garchomp by 9 PM that day learns Earth Power, the same exclusive Charged Attack from the original Community Day. Triple Stardust for catches, extended Incense and Lure Modules, and improved shiny odds round out the bonuses.
The Mega Squads event (September 8-14) brings two brand-new Pokemon to the game: Maschiff and its evolution Mabosstiff, both dark-type dogs making their Pokemon Go debut. Maschiff appears through Field Research and 5 km eggs, evolving into Mabosstiff with 50 candies. Shiny Flamigo also makes its first appearance in the game during this same event window.
Later in the month, the Phantump Catch Mastery event on September 26 rewards Nice Throws or better with double XP and increased candy, and the Harvest Festival kicks off September 29 to carry players into October.
Spotlight Hours and a mystery event still to come
Spotlight Hours run every Thursday evening from 6-7 PM local time, with a bonus Sunday session on September 13 featuring Houndour and Houndoom with double transfer candy (timed neatly with the Mega Squads dark-type theme). The September 10 hour spotlights the Weedle line alongside the same transfer candy bonus, and September 24 brings Rattata with double evolution XP and an increased chance at an XXS specimen.
Niantic has also confirmed a Mystery Event from September 16-22 and a Super Mega Raid Day on September 19 featuring a new Mega debut, though details on both are still locked down.
What this means for players is a month with barely any downtime. The smart move is to map out your raid passes early, prioritize the Zacian and Zamazenta windows if you need those legendaries, and keep September 12 clear for Gible.
