Sequence has partnered with Aethir to bring decentralized GPU infrastructure to web3 game developers. Aethir runs a distributed network of graphics processing units that developers can tap into for cloud gaming and rendering tasks without relying on traditional centralized providers.

This partnership gives Sequence developers access to Aethir's GPU-as-a-Service platform, which could lower costs and improve scalability for studios building blockchain-integrated games. Developers can also apply for Aethir credits through Sequence's grant program.

How Aethir's GPU network works

Aethir operates a marketplace for unused GPU power. Instead of owning massive data centers, Aethir aggregates spare processing capacity from devices across its network built on Arbitrum. The platform currently has over 2,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs and more than 40,000 additional enterprise-grade GPUs available for gaming and AI workloads.

The network runs on 75,000+ Checker Nodes managed by 22,000 operators who monitor service quality. This setup is designed to reduce costs and make high-end GPU access more available to developers who want to deliver smooth experiences to players without the upfront infrastructure investment.

Low-latency gaming and AI workloads

Aethir's infrastructure is built for demanding applications like low-latency cloud gaming and AI model training. By distributing GPU resources globally, the platform avoids single points of failure and reduces dependency on any one provider.

Aethir is backed by Framework Ventures, Animoca Brands, and Hashkey. The platform has over 2 million community members, 200,000 users, and 23 node locations. It has existing partnerships with web3 platforms including Magic Eden, Mocaverse, and Animoca.

What developers get from the partnership

Sequence developers can now use Aethir's GPU fleet for graphically intensive web3 games, run pre-release testing on cloud instances, and move projects to blockchain environments without building their own infrastructure.

Paul Thind, Chief Revenue Officer at Aethir, said the partnership fits the company's goal of scaling web3 gaming infrastructure.

"Sequence is a perfect partner to advance Aethir's vision in scaling web3 gaming. Their development platform empowers studios, and our decentralized network fuels those creations. Together, we're building the infrastructure for a future where anyone can contribute to, and benefit from web3 gaming. We're excited to collaborate with Sequence and see the innovative web3 titles that emerge from this powerful combination."

Cloud gaming revenue is projected to grow significantly through 2026, driven by investments from Meta, Microsoft, Google, and Amazon in GPU infrastructure.

Decentralized GPU access vs. traditional cloud

Aethir's model sidesteps centralized cloud providers by pooling underutilized GPUs from a distributed network. The goal is to make processing power more accessible and reduce costs for developers who can't afford or don't want to commit to traditional cloud contracts.

Sam Barberie, Head of Strategy and Partnerships at Sequence, said the integration supports the platform's focus on helping developers onboard and retain players using web3 tools.

"Sequence's mission has always been to empower developers, using web3, to onboard, monetize, and retain users, and cloud is a vital part of that. The combination of Sequence's web3 dev platform and Aethir's decentralized GPU network offers new distribution routes and accessibility for web3 games and paves the way for communities to own their games, ensuring continued utility for their in-game assets indefinitely."

How to apply for Aethir credits

Developers in the Sequence ecosystem can apply for Aethir credits through Sequence's grant program. The credits give access to Aethir's GPU network at a reduced cost, which could help smaller studios test and deploy web3 games without large infrastructure budgets.

The partnership is part of Sequence's broader push to make web3 game development more accessible by bundling infrastructure tools with its existing platform for wallet integration, marketplaces, and on-chain features.
