Six crossover packs. Free monthly characters. A price cut that makes jumping in right now genuinely tempting. Sega has laid out the full Year 2 roadmap for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and the guest list reads like someone raided every corner of gaming and pop culture at once.

The six packs, broken down

Year 2 kicks off on November 3 with the Godzilla Pack, which might be the most immediately spectacular addition the game has seen. Godzilla attacks the City Escape level from Sonic Adventure 2, turning one of the most beloved tracks in Sonic history into a kaiju disaster zone. Three new vehicles arrive alongside it, modeled after Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah.

Pack 2 is the previously confirmed Evangelion crossover. Sega had already teased this one, and it slots in as the second paid drop of the year.

Pack 3 is called the Virtual Sanrio Puroland Pack, built around the real-life Sanrio Puroland theme park in Japan. Hello Kitty and Kuromi both arrive as playable racers, and the track is modeled after the park itself. This one is going to appeal well beyond the core Sonic audience, and that's clearly the point.

Pack 4 is the Segaland Pack, which leans hard into nostalgia. The track celebrates classic Sega arcade history, and the three new vehicles are based on Out Run, After Burner, and Super Hang-On cabinets. For anyone who grew up in arcades, this pack is going to hit differently.

Pack 5 carries the working title Midgar Pack and pulls content from the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series. Specific details are still being held back, but the name alone tells you where this is going.

Pack 6, the Reload Revival Royal Pack, brings in content from the Persona series. Like the Midgar Pack, the finer details are still to come.

Free characters and what the Year 2 calendar looks like

Paid packs are only half the picture. Sega is continuing the free monthly character model that ran through Year 1, and the first addition is a big one.

Bayonetta joins the roster on November 3 alongside a brand new Rival Duel mode built specifically around her arrival. Later in November, a McLaren Racing collaboration adds a McLaren F1 car and a new Sonic skin decked out in McLaren livery.

Then in early 2027, Aigis from Persona 3 Reload arrives as a free character, paired with a vehicle called the Palladion Dressy.

Players who own both Season Pass 1 and Season Pass 2 get an extra bonus on top of everything: Super Shadow and his Super Dark Flare vehicle, exclusive to double-pass holders.

The price drop changes the math for new players

Here's the thing that makes today's announcement more than just a DLC reveal. Sega has permanently dropped the base game price, effective immediately. The Standard Edition goes from $70 to $40, and the Digital Deluxe Edition (which bundles in all Year 1 content) drops from $90 to $60.

For anyone sitting on the fence, $60 for the base game plus an entire year of crossover DLC is a meaningfully different proposition than $90. If you want a sense of how the game plays before committing, check out our in-depth review for the full breakdown.

With Bayonetta, Godzilla, Cloud (presumably), and Hello Kitty all heading to the same starting grid, the Year 2 roster is shaping up to be one of the more eclectic collections in any racing game right now. If you want to get your character picks sorted before November 3, our character tier list covers the current roster and will be updated as new racers land.
