Until Dawn 2 is taking its next gameplay presentation to the cinema. PlayStation has announced exclusive gameplay at Alamo Drafthouse on December 11, 2026, giving the sequel to Until Dawn a big-screen event before launch.
The plan is closer to a horror night out than a standard trailer drop. A horror movie marathon and special talent appearances are also on the program, matching Until Dawn 2's horror-film influences with a setting where those influences should feel right at home.
Alamo's horror night will reach viewers at home
The presentation will be livestreamed, giving players who cannot attend an Alamo Drafthouse screening a way to watch the new gameplay. PlayStation announced the event on November 2, putting a firm date on the sequel's next public appearance without requiring a trip to the cinema.
There is a business connection behind the venue choice, too: Sony Pictures owns Alamo Drafthouse. PlayStation previously brought its September 2026 State of Play to the chain's theaters. This dedicated Until Dawn 2 event builds on that relationship, this time with the evening centered on one horror game rather than a broader presentation.
Firesprite trades the original cast for ghost hunters
Firesprite is developing Until Dawn 2 as a PS5 exclusive, with launch set for January 28, 2027. That places the December presentation roughly seven weeks before release.
The sequel follows a new cast in an entirely different story. This group consists of ghost hunters traveling to a remote island after being offered a TV deal to document its mysterious abandoned resort. The setup gives the characters a reason to investigate the location themselves: capturing its mysteries is the job they have signed up for.
For players drawn to decision-heavy adventure games, the connection to the original is in how the story unfolds. You follow the group and make choices that can seriously affect the narrative. Changing the cast and location gives Firesprite a separate story to tell while keeping consequential decisions at the center of play.

Decisions shape Until Dawn 2
December follows a character-focused rollout
The Alamo event follows several earlier steps in Until Dawn 2's release campaign:
- September 3: PlayStation announced the release date during State of Play.
- September 10: Pre-orders opened for the sequel.
Sony has also been introducing the characters individually ahead of launch. That approach suits a game built around following a group: getting a sense of who these people are provides context for the decisions players will eventually make around them. The December gameplay presentation moves that rollout beyond character introductions and back toward showing the game in action.
With the cinema event next on the calendar, players revisiting the first game's decision-driven horror before January can find help in the Until Dawn guide collection.
