Yuga Labs has announced the release of Bathroom Blitz, a new 8v8 third-person shooter launching on its Otherside platform later this week. The game aims to further develop Otherside's user-generated content (UGC) ecosystem and provide a functional example of what is possible using the platform's development tools. Bathroom Blitz is expected to roll out in the coming days, with early access already being extended to select community members.

Bathroom Blitz takes place entirely within a bathroom-themed map, where players are scaled down to appear tiny relative to their surroundings. The game operates as a team-based deathmatch with 8v8 third-person shooting mechanics.
Command Line, a studio founded by CryptoVonDoom (a Bored Ape Yacht Club member), built the game using Yuga's Otherside Development Kit (ODK). This aligns with Yuga Labs' push to support independent creators working within its ecosystem.
CryptoVonDoom shared excitement about bringing the game to the community, describing this initial release as an early preview. The limited rollout is designed to collect feedback and spark engagement before the full launch opens to everyone the following week.

The role of web3 and UGC in Otherside
Bathroom Blitz represents Yuga Labs' continued focus on a web3 model built around decentralized content creation. Otherside, Yuga's metaverse platform, functions as a collaborative space where users and partner developers can create games and experiences tied to a shared narrative.
The platform runs on ApeCoin and treats UGC as a core pillar of virtual world development. Greg Solano, also known as Garga and one of Yuga's co-founders, has been involved in guiding Bathroom Blitz's direction.
During a recent Discord AMA, Solano discussed the potential of UGC in gaming and emphasized the benefits of web3 infrastructure. He argued that web3 rails offer better scalability and flexibility for game development than traditional web2 models, citing modding and community-driven tools as major growth drivers for the industry.

Expanding the Otherside ecosystem
Yuga Labs plans for Bathroom Blitz to be one piece of a larger narrative universe. This includes Yuga's proprietary characters like the Koda NFTs, along with thematic elements such as Soma and Chaos, which represent creation and destruction within the platform's lore. These elements are meant to link various projects built within Otherside, creating cohesion across different user-generated experiences.
Alongside the game launch, Yuga Labs is preparing to release its developer toolkit to holders of Otherdeed NFTs. The toolkit will give more creators access to the tools needed to build content on Otherside, driving further community participation and platform expansion.
