The only food that lets you breathe underwater forever
Stargazy Pizza is one of Once Human's most useful Legendary consumables, and most players walk right past the recipe without knowing it exists. Pop one of these before heading into any underwater area and you get 30 full minutes of indefinite submersion, plus a combat bonus that depends entirely on which fish you used to cook it. The base ingredients stay the same every time. The fish is where the real decision happens.
Where to find the Stargazy Pizza recipe
The recipe sits at coordinates (1581, -7333) in Fisherman's Wharf, inside the Chalk Peak region, according to the Once Human Wiki. Head there once and you have it permanently. The good news is that the recipe carries over into other scenarios, including The Way of Winter, as long as the new scenario runs on the same server as the Manibus scenario where you originally picked it up.

Once Human Stargazy Pizza Guide: Craft the Best Underwater Build
There is one catch: some ingredients might not be available in every scenario. If that happens, you will need to bring them across via Item Inheritance.
info
Grab the recipe on your first visit to Chalk Peak. There is no reason to delay it, and the underwater mobility alone makes it worth the detour.
How to craft Stargazy Pizza
You can cook this at either a Stove or a Kitchen Set. The base recipe always requires:
- x1 Fish (your choice, see the table below)
- x1 Deviated Aloe Vera
- x2 Shellfish
- x2 Caviar
Every version gives you +100 Energy and the ability to remain underwater indefinitely for 30 minutes. The fish you choose adds a third combat effect on top of that. Some rare-variant fish push that bonus higher (typically from +3% to +5%) but also apply a -50% duration penalty to non-fish ingredient effects, so there is a real trade-off to consider.
What does the fish variant actually change?
The fish slot determines your combat bonus for the entire 30-minute window. After going through all the documented variants from the Once Human Wiki, they fall into a few clear categories:
The Cichlid family behaves differently. Golden Cichlid and Red Cichlid only give +40 Energy (not +100) and apply a -10 Hydration penalty alongside their Melee Crit DMG +3%. They do not grant the underwater breathing effect. Avoid these if underwater exploration is your goal.
warning
Golden Cichlid and Red Cichlid versions of Stargazy Pizza do NOT provide the underwater breathing effect and reduce your Hydration by 10. They are strictly inferior for most use cases.
Which fish should you actually use?
This depends entirely on your build. Here is the practical breakdown:
For deviated-status builds: Use Angelfish, Oscar Fish, Sea Bass, or Tilapia for Weakspot DMG +5% against deviated targets. These are strong picks for builds that consistently apply deviated status, and they carry no penalty.
For general Crit DMG:Barracuda, Koi Carp, or Pompano give unconditional Crit DMG +5%, but the -50% non-fish ingredient duration is a meaningful cost. If you are running other food buffs alongside this, the penalty stacks awkwardly.
For Burn builds:Northern Pike (Blood Jade) pushes Crit DMG vs. Burn targets to +5%, but again applies the -50% non-fish duration penalty. Standard Northern Pike or Longnose Gar give +3% with no penalty, which might be the cleaner choice depending on how many other consumables you are managing.
For melee builds: Any of the Cichlid variants that grant Melee Crit DMG +3% (Jade-eye, Large Blue, Large Yellow, Lionhead, White Cichlid) work without penalties, though the bonus is smaller than the ranged options.
info
The base underwater breathing effect is identical across all valid variants. Your fish choice only affects the combat bonus, not the 30-minute submersion duration.
Shellfish Meat: the ingredient you also need to understand
Crafting Stargazy Pizza requires x2 Shellfish as a raw ingredient, and those Shellfish can also be cooked into Shellfish Meat, an Epic-tier food in its own right. Shellfish Meat requires x1 Shellfish, x2 Sugar, and x2 Purified Water, and gives +80 Energy plus a 5% Vulnerability debuff on hit for 10 seconds, according to the Once Human Wiki.
The recipe unlocks differently depending on your scenario. In Manibus / Evolutions Call, it comes from the Dishes III memetic under Logistics, 04 Transcendence, costing 7 cipher and 2000 Energy Link. In The Way of Winter, it is the Taste of the Past III memetic under Logistics, 04 Chaos, costing 5 cipher and 700 Energy Link.
Shellfish Meat is worth knowing about because it competes for the same Shellfish supply. If you are farming Shellfish for Stargazy Pizza, factor in whether you also want to keep some stock for Shellfish Meat's Vulnerability application, which is genuinely useful for group content.
Spoilage and storage: what most players ignore
Both Stargazy Pizza and Shellfish Meat spoil 24 hours after acquisition. Stack size for both is 100. That 24-hour window means batch cooking right before a long session is smarter than stockpiling days in advance. There is no point in having 80 pizzas sitting in your inventory if 60 of them turn into garbage overnight.
Plan your cooking runs around your play schedule, not around ingredient availability.
info
Cook Stargazy Pizza in batches of 10-20 at a time rather than maxing your stack. The 24-hour spoil timer starts on acquisition, so smaller batches mean less waste.
