Anime Zero's Evolution system is the wall every player hits around the time they clear their first dungeon. You own a solid weapon, you can use three of its skills, and then there's a fourth slot sitting locked behind a requirement list you haven't looked at yet. That fourth skill is the ultimate, and it only opens once you evolve the weapon. This guide covers exactly how to do that for every weapon currently in the game on Roblox.

What does evolution actually unlock?

Before evolving, any weapon gives you a basic attack and three skills. The ultimate, fired with G, stays completely locked until you complete the Evolution process. This isn't a small upgrade. For weapons you plan to use as your main damage dealer, the ultimate completes the moveset and adds a genuinely powerful ability to your rotation.

The key thing to understand: owning a weapon does not automatically unlock anything. Evolution is a separate step that requires specific materials, and those materials differ by weapon. There is no shortcut around the requirement list.

How to evolve a weapon in Anime Zero

The process itself is straightforward once you know where to go.

  1. Open the Areas menu from the lobby.
  2. Travel to the Evolution area.
  3. Interact with the Evolution NPC using E.
  4. Select the weapon you want to evolve.
  5. Scroll through the full requirement list, including any rows below the first visible screen.
  6. Note exactly how much of each material you still need.
  7. Farm the missing items from the relevant stages.
  8. Return to the NPC and press Evolve to complete the upgrade.

Evolution becomes available after your first dungeon clears because the materials drop from stages. If the Evolve button is still locked after you think you've gathered everything, close and reopen the panel. You may have enough of one ingredient while missing a different item entirely.

These are the published requirements for each weapon. Costs can change with updates, so treat these as your starting reference and confirm the exact quantities in the Evolution menu before committing to a farming session.

Shadow Monarch and Mochi Commander follow separate paths. Shadow Monarch has three named stages (The System, Arise: Igris, and Demon King's Longsword) that make up the Monarch Path, requiring materials including Fine Cloth, Magic Pendant, Shadow Essence, Igris Crest, Shadow Cloak, and Monarch's Blessing. Mochi Commander uses Zero Calories Flour and Zero Calories Doughnuts. Both need to be checked directly in-game for exact quantities.

Where do evolution materials drop?

Fine Cloth is the material you'll spend the most time farming. It drops across all chapters and in Infinite mode, which means there's no single best stage for it. You just need to keep running content.

For everything else, the queue screen before each stage shows which materials can drop there. Check it before starting a run rather than farming blind. Story Mode acts drop different items depending on the act, so identifying the right one first saves a lot of time.

Infinite Mode becomes worth running once your weapon is strong enough to reach later waves, since those waves and bosses drop materials that don't appear in earlier Story Mode acts.

Anime Zero also has a material pity system for rare drops. If a specific item refuses to show up after extended farming, the pity system provides a fallback. Redeeming active Anime Zero codes for free Coins, Gems, and more can also supply some awakening materials directly.

Which weapon should you evolve first?

The answer is almost always the weapon you're actively using to clear content. Evolution costs are paid per weapon, so spreading materials across several weapons at once just means none of them get finished.

If your main weapon's evolution requires a raid you can't clear yet, look at the requirements for your second equipped weapon. An evolution that's nearly complete on a weapon you actually use beats a half-finished upgrade on something sitting in your inventory.

For players who want to know which weapons are worth the investment before committing materials, the Anime Zero tier list covering the best weapons, traits, and accessories breaks down the full rankings. The two raid weapons, Shadow Monarch and Flame Director, are earned through raids rather than summons, so their evolution paths are separate from the standard checklist above.

Once you have your main weapon evolved, the next priority is building around it properly. The Anime Zero max damage build guide covers which traits and accessories to stack for peak DPS once your ultimate is live.

Farming faster: practical tips

  • Prioritize one weapon at a time. Split farming is the slowest way to progress.
  • Use the queue screen every time. Material sources aren't always obvious, and checking before each run takes five seconds.
  • Higher difficulties give more farming opportunities, but only run them if you can clear reliably. A failed run wastes time.
  • Scroll the full Evolution panel. Some requirement rows sit below the first visible screen and get missed.
  • Save shared materials. Fine Cloth appears in both evolution and accessory recipes. If you need it for both, account for that before crafting accessories.
