Storage Hunters Open World's Halloween event runs on Candy, and there's never enough of it. Every auction in the Halloween Market, every item in the Halloween Index, and every Candy Bag upgrade costs Candy you need to earn from scratch. The good news is there are 5 distinct ways to farm it, and stacking them together with a Candy Potion active turns a slow grind into something genuinely efficient.

Here's a quick breakdown before the details:

MethodCandy EarnedCooldown
Trick-or-TreatVariable per housePer house (lights off)
Kill Zombies (Grave Digger)10 per body, up to 25030 minutes
Defend the Town100 per run30 minutes
Dig GravesRandom per graveNone listed

How to go Trick-or-Treating

First, head to the Halloween Area and talk to the Witch to pick up a Candy Bag. You can only go trick-or-treating between 7 PM and 6 AM in-game, so if it's daytime you'll need to wait.

Once night falls, look for houses with a Trick and Treat board on either side of the door. Knocking gets you either Candy (a treat) or a temporary luck debuff (a trick). Houses with their lights off are on cooldown, so skip them and move to lit ones.

If you can get your hands on a Cauldron Bag from the Witch, that pushes your per-house yield even higher.

How to kill zombies for Candy

Zombies spawn across the map once night hits. Grab a gun from the Back Alley auctions, take down as many zombies as you can, and pick up every body. Bring the bodies to the Grave Digger in the Halloween Area and he pays 10 Candy per zombie body.

The cap before the 30-minute cooldown kicks in is 250 Candy, so that's 25 zombie bodies per run. A fast weapon makes this much easier to hit consistently.

How to play Defend the Town

Talk to the Grave Digger and select the Defend the Town option. This spawns a controlled zombie wave event: survive all 5 waves and you earn 100 Candy flat. The cooldown is 30 minutes.

A fast weapon is the difference between breezing through this and struggling. If you have one, Defend the Town is one of the most consistent Candy sources per session.

How to dig graves

Buy a Gravedigger Shovel from the Skeleton NPC in the Halloween Area for 100 Candy. Once you have it, dig every grave in the area. Each grave drops a random amount of Candy, with Lucky Digs paying out more.

This method also has the most important secondary reward: Candy Potions, which only drop from grave digging.

Where to find the Headless Horseman

From the Halloween Area, move toward the Lost and Found Box and you'll find the Headless Horseman NPC. His quests reward Candy and also help you win auctions for the Halloween Index. Talk to him regularly and clear whatever quests he has available.

What's the best Candy farming strategy?

The fastest route combines Candy Potions with grave digging and Trick-or-Treat.

First, save up 100 Candy from zombie kills or Defend the Town runs to buy the Gravedigger Shovel. Once you have it, dig graves until you've stockpiled several Candy Potions. Each potion activates a 2x Candy multiplier from all sources for 15 minutes.

With a potion active, focus on grave digging first since that's where more potions can drop. When night arrives, switch to Trick-or-Treat with your upgraded Candy Bag. Stack the Cauldron Bag if you have it. This loop, repeated across multiple potion windows, is the highest Candy-per-hour approach available.

How to spend Candy wisely

Before farming, know where your Candy is going:

  • Gravedigger Shovel (100 Candy) from the Skeleton: buy this first, it unlocks Candy Potions
  • Candy Bag upgrades from the Witch: increases Trick-or-Treat yield per house
  • Halloween Area auctions: require Candy to participate
  • Halloween Market: items purchased with Candy

Prioritize the shovel above everything else. Without it, you're locked out of Candy Potions, which are the backbone of any serious farming session.
