Type Soul Rendan Skill Tree: Every Ability, Combo, and Build

Type Soul's Rendan skill tree is built for players who want to stay in an opponent's face and never let them breathe. It runs on high combo string potential, frequent stuns, and a flashy rushdown style that rewards aggressive play. The trade-off is real though: moderate damage output and heavy riatsu consumption mean you need to spend your resources wisely. Here's everything you need to know about every ability, every alternate move, and the combos that actually work.

What is the Rendan skill tree in Type Soul?

Rendan is a rushdown-focused skill tree available in Roblox Type Soul. Its design centers on keeping opponents in the air or stunned through chained moves, making it one of the most combo-oriented trees in the game. The downside is that moderate damage per hit and high riatsu costs punish players who mistime their strings or whiff key moves. If you can manage those costs, Rendan rewards you with some of the game's most dynamic combat.

Below are every ability skill tree breakdown. Most moves have an alternate version triggered by holding spacebar before activating the ability or while airborne.

How do alternate moves work in Rendan?

Most Rendan abilities have alternate versions that activate when you hold spacebar before pressing the ability or when you're already airborne at the time of activation. This isn't just a cosmetic change: several alternates convert ground-based dashes into camera-controlled aerial movement, which opens up completely different combo routes. Soaring Blade ALT and Revolving Snake ALT both use this camera-controlled dash, making them significantly more flexible in three-dimensional fights.

What are the best Rendan combos?

They range from simple three-move punishes to full extended strings that burn through most of the skill tree.

Combo 1 (Standard Aerial Loop)

  • Revolving Snake
  • Evince
  • Crownkiller
  • Grapple
  • Headhunter

Combo 2 (Judgment Finisher)

  • Revolving Snake
  • Evince
  • Crownkiller
  • Grapple
  • Judgment

Combo 3 (Quick Punish)

  • Headhunter
  • Crownkiller
  • Grapple

Combo 4 (Full Extension)

  • Soaring Blade
  • Revolving Snake
  • Evince
  • Crownkiller
  • Grapple
  • Headhunter
  • Judgment

Combo 4 is the longest string available and chains nearly every core Rendan ability into one sequence. It demands precise timing and solid riatsu management, but landing the full thing is about as punishing as Rendan gets. Combo 3 is the opposite: a short, reliable punish for when you catch someone with Headhunter and want a clean follow-up without committing to a longer string.

Which Rendan ability is the strongest?

Great Cannon Blade Star Flash and Judgment are the two standout abilities in the tree. Both carry significant guard-break potential and can interrupt enemy combos. Judgment is especially useful because it only enters cooldown after the third and final hit lands, meaning you can hold the combo open across all three parts without the timer running down prematurely.

Great Cannon Blade Star Flash at 65 SP is the tree's most expensive single ability and the riskiest. It pierces hyperarmor and cannot be countered while active, but a miss or a parry leaves you with massive endlag. Use it when you have a clear read on an opponent, not as a panic button.

Which Rendan ability is the weakest?

Manifold Blitz was the weakest ability in the tree. At only 18 SP it's the cheapest option, but its execution is difficult and opponents quickly learn to read the flashstep stance. Once the surprise factor disappears, the move loses most of its value. Spending those SP elsewhere is generally the better call once you're past the early learning curve.

Building around the Rendan skill tree

Rendan's identity is aerial combo extension. The Bladedancer passive at 55 SP is one of the most impactful investments in the tree because removing active frames from your base dash lets you cast abilities mid-dash, which directly improves how cleanly combos chain together. Prioritizing the abilities that feed into your preferred combo route rather than unlocking everything linearly will get you functional faster.
