Crystal Sphere Event in Slay the Spire ...

The Crystal Sphere is one of the most intriguing mystery room events you'll stumble across in Slay the Spire 2. A raspy fortune-teller pulls you into her mystic hut, promises to reveal your destiny, and then hands you a waiver to sign. Classic. What follows is a tile-flipping mini-game with real consequences for your run, and the choice you make at the start can define whether you walk away richer or cursed.

Which Option Should You Pick in the Crystal Sphere Event?

The Crystal Sphere event forces you into one of two paths. There is no option to walk away empty-handed, so you need to weigh both carefully before committing.

What Is the Debt Curse and Why Does It Matter?

Debt is a curse card added directly to your deck. It is unplayable, meaning it does nothing positive for you. The real danger is that every time you draw it, you lose 10 gold at the end of that turn. Draw it six times and you have already lost more gold than the 79-gold upfront cost of Uncover Future. On top of that, removing Debt from your deck at a Merchant costs 75 gold, so the long-term financial drain can be severe.

The extra three divination attempts from Payment Plan sound appealing, but the math rarely favors it unless you are in a specific situation.

When Should You Pick Each Option?

Uncover Future (79 Gold) is the recommended pick for most players. Keeping your deck clean is a foundational principle in Slay the Spire 2, and adding an unplayable curse just for more tile flips is rarely worth the clutter and ongoing penalty.

Payment Plan (Debt Curse) has niche appeal in two specific scenarios:

  • You are running an Exhaust-focused deck where curse cards can be exhausted away, neutralizing Debt's downside.
  • You genuinely cannot afford 79 gold at that point in the run and need the extra attempts to make the event worthwhile.

How Does Divination Work in the Crystal Sphere Event?

Once you have paid your entry fee, the actual mini-game begins. You are presented with a crystal ball filled with hidden tiles. Beneath those tiles are various artefacts representing in-game items, including gold, cards, and potentially relics. Your job is to reveal them using your divination attempts.

Small Divination vs. Big Divination: What Is the Difference?

You have two tools at your disposal during each attempt:

  • Small Divination reveals a smaller cluster of tiles, exposing fewer hidden artefacts per use.
  • Big Divination reveals a larger area, uncovering more tiles in one go.

Each use of either type counts as one divination attempt, regardless of size. This means you can mix and match freely across your available attempts.

The strategic layer here is genuine. If you have scouted the board and know a negative tile is lurking in a certain area, a Small Divination lets you navigate around it more precisely.

Can You Save Scum the Crystal Sphere Event?

Yes, and the game does not prevent it. If you reveal a negative artefact during divination, you can save and quit immediately, then reload and return to the event. The tile layout resets, but you now know where that harmful item was located and can avoid it.

This technique is entirely optional and a matter of personal preference. The game allows it by design, so using it is a legitimate strategy if you want to protect your run from unlucky reveals.

What Rewards Can You Get From Divining?

The Crystal Sphere event can yield several types of rewards depending on what is hidden beneath the tiles:

  • Gold is the most common reward and appears frequently. In many cases, the gold found during divination can exceed the 79-gold entry cost, making the event net-positive financially.
  • Card rewards are also available, including rare finds. Gold-tier cards have been confirmed as possible drops.
  • Relics are believed to exist as potential rewards as well, though both positive and negative relic artefacts may be hidden in the grid.

At the end of your divination session, a reward screen displays everything you uncovered. Just like post-combat loot screens, you can skip any reward you do not want to take.

The Crystal Sphere event rewards players who think ahead. Knowing your deck archetype, your current gold count, and your upcoming map route before you enter that mystery room gives you everything you need to make the right call every time.
