Overview
The Wolf Among Us Remastered is a narrative adventure from developer and publisher Telltale. It follows Bigby Wolf through a murder investigation in Fabletown, where characters from folklore live secretly among humans. The story draws on DC’s Fables comics and brings their fairy-tale figures into a modern crime drama.
The remaster is available on Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Steam and the Epic Games Store carry the PC edition. This edition combines the original narrative with presentation upgrades and supplemental material exploring the game’s creation.
How does the detective gameplay work?
The Wolf Among Us Remastered plays as a choice-driven detective story, with investigation and conversation forming its central activities. Its core mechanics include:

- Crime-scene examination
- Suspect interrogations
- Relationship-shaping decisions
Bigby’s responses affect dialogue and influence whether Fabletown’s residents trust, fear, or reject him. Players make judgments about how he handles the people involved in the case, placing his conduct alongside the search for answers.

The mystery concerns brutal murders and a conspiracy beneath Fabletown. Its violence and morally difficult decisions establish an adult crime thriller despite the fairy-tale origins of its cast.

Remastered visuals and Noir Mode
The visual update includes improved lighting, revised animation, and more detailed environments. These changes cover both the spaces Bigby investigates and the character performances that carry interrogations and other conversations.
Noir Mode presents the game in black and white, drawing directly on classic detective cinema. The option covers the complete story, including its crime scenes, back alleys, and confrontations.
Players can switch between Noir Mode and the remastered color presentation at any time. The choice concerns visual style: the color treatment preserves Fabletown’s neon-noir identity, while monochrome brings the detective-film influence to the foreground.

Complete story and production extras
All five episodes are included in the remaster, covering Bigby’s first investigation as a complete narrative adventure. The episodic structure remains part of the package, with the full sequence available in one edition.
Bonus content includes developer commentary, concept art, interviews, restored content, and archival material about the making of The Wolf Among Us. These additions extend beyond the playable investigation to cover its writing, art, and production through material from its creators.
Telltale Account integration supports transferring defining choices into The Wolf Among Us 2. Players need to sign in while playing Remastered to carry those decisions forward. The sequel also supports establishing past choices at its start without a previous playthrough, making account-based choice transfer an option for preserving a particular version of Bigby’s story.
