Splinterlands, the browser-based play-to-earn trading card game built on the Hive blockchain, just overhauled how ranked rewards work. The game runs on two tokens — Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) and Splintershards (SPS) — and blends deck-building with auto-battler combat.

Instead of opening randomized chests, players now spend a new currency to buy exactly what they want from the Glint Store. It's a major shift in how rewards feel, giving you control over what you walk away with after a match. Here's what changed: a new currency called Glint, a store where you spend it, and a reworked reward structure that ditches daily focus bonuses in favor of straightforward post-battle payouts.

Glint replaces chest drops

Glint is the new currency you earn from winning battles and burning soulbound cards. How much you get depends on your rank, with bonuses for playing older edition cards and gold foil variants. The daily focus system is gone — now you just see your Glint total after each match and at the end of the season.

The store lets you pick your rewards

The Glint Store is where you spend your earnings. You can buy cards, merits, energy, and potions directly. Every purchase gives you a shot at rare cards or gold foils, and higher-tier pulls improve your odds of landing something valuable.

The store also sells three premium Titles that boost land production. More items are coming later, including cosmetics, random loot chests, promo cards, and land-related gear.

Less randomness, more choice

The point of these changes is to make rewards feel less like a slot machine. New players can focus on building their card collection without praying for good chest RNG. Veterans can dump extra Glint into titles and specialty items that actually matter for their long-term strategy.

Splinterlands also folded the SPS pool into battle rewards, which should increase what you earn per win. With the active player base growing, the update moves Splinterlands toward a system where effort translates more directly into progress. You can follow the game on Twitter or join the Discord for updates.

What Splinterlands is

Splinterlands is a browser-based trading card game on the Hive blockchain. Players use Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) as the main in-game currency and Splintershards (SPS) for governance.

The game mixes deck-building with auto-battler mechanics. You assemble a lineup, hit battle, and watch it play out. Daily quests, seasonal rewards, and a bi-weekly leaderboard keep the grind moving.
