Brookhaven RP has grown into one of Roblox's most popular roleplay experiences, and jobs sit at the heart of what makes each session feel alive. With over 80 available roles spread across five distinct categories, picking the right job shapes how other players interact with your character and what stories you can tell together. Whether you want to patrol the streets as a Police Officer, run a café at Starbrooks, or perform on stage as a Musician, this guide covers everything you need to know.

How do jobs work in Brookhaven RP?

Jobs in Brookhaven RP are character roles that you equip for identity and roleplay purposes. They don't affect progression stats or unlock gameplay abilities. Instead, they broadcast your character's occupation to every other player in the server through a visible job icon that floats above your character's head.

This icon updates instantly whenever you change or remove a role, so other players always know what your character represents in the current scene.

Where to find the jobs menu

You access jobs through the Avatar menu, also called the Character Bio section. Once you open it, click the Jobs icon to browse all available roles. Selecting any job assigns it to your character immediately. No confirmation screen, no cooldown.

Jobs can also be picked up directly inside certain in-game stores. When you enter a store that supports this, a job icon appears within the store's interface. Clicking it assigns the matching role on the spot, which is a handy shortcut for shop-based roleplay.

What does the job interface let you do?

After equipping any job, a dedicated Job menu appears beneath the Home Cams button on your screen. This small panel gives you three controls:

  • Take a Break pauses the job temporarily without removing it from your character.
  • End Break restores the active job after a pause.
  • Quit removes the job entirely, requiring you to re-equip it if you want it back.

The break system is particularly useful during long roleplay sessions when your character needs to step out of their professional role for a scene without losing the job assignment.

All five job categories explained

Jobs in Brookhaven RP are sorted into five categories. Each category groups roles by theme, making it easier to find something that fits your current scenario. The full job catalog breaks down every role by type.

Service

The Service category is the largest in the game and covers public safety, law enforcement, healthcare, transportation, and professional occupations. This is the go-to category for high-energy roleplay involving emergencies, investigations, or city governance.

Family

The Family category focuses on household, school, and community roles. These jobs anchor domestic and neighborhood roleplay, giving players the tools to build family dynamics or school-day scenarios.

Shop

The Shop category covers retail, food service, and customer-facing business roles. Specific in-game locations like Mo's Pizza, Burger Barn, and Starbrooks each have dedicated job entries, tying your character directly to a recognizable spot on the map.

Arts

The Arts category includes creative and media roles ranging from Dancer and Singer to UTuber and Photographer. This is the best category for entertainment-focused sessions or content-creator themed roleplay.

Outside

The Outside category handles roles tied to outdoor environments and physical activities. From Astronaut to Paranormal Hunter, this category offers some of the most creative and unconventional options in the entire game.

Which job should you pick?

The answer depends entirely on the kind of roleplay you want to run. Here are some practical starting points based on popular session types:

  • Law enforcement scenarios: Combine Police, Detective, S.W.A.T, and Criminal roles across your group for a chase or investigation story.
  • Family roleplay: Use At home mom, At home dad, Student, and Teacher to build a full household-to-school routine.
  • Business and shop roleplay: Pick a location-specific job like Mo's Pizza or Starbrooks and stay near that building to create a realistic customer-service experience.
  • Creative and media sessions: Stack the Arts category roles like Singer, UTuber, and Photographer for a behind-the-scenes entertainment scenario.
  • Outdoor adventures:Paranormal Hunter, Astronaut, and Park Ranger open up exploration-heavy narratives that take full advantage of the map.

Tips for getting more out of your job

Jobs in Brookhaven RP are purely cosmetic and identity-based, but a few habits will make your sessions noticeably more engaging:

  • Match your job to your location. Playing Chef near a restaurant or Life Guard near the pool makes your roleplay feel grounded and invites other players to interact naturally.
  • Use the Take a Break feature. If your character needs to go off-duty mid-scene, pause rather than quit. It keeps your job ready for when the scene shifts back.
  • Coordinate jobs with friends. Agreeing on complementary roles before a session, such as Lawyer and Judge for a courtroom scene, creates much richer storylines than picking jobs independently.
  • Try less obvious roles. Jobs like Paranormal Hunter, Adoption Worker, and Veteranian are rarely used but open up unique story hooks that stand out in crowded servers.
