The Blackwing Leather Armor set is one of the strongest early-to-mid-game options in Crimson Desert, and it looks the part too. Five pieces total, spread across boss fights and hidden chests, and none of them are handed to you without some effort. Two pieces come from a Chapter 5 boss, the other three are tucked away in corners of the world that most players walk right past.
What is the Blackwing Leather Armor set?
The Blackwing set is a five-piece leather armor collection in Crimson Desert, developed by Pearl Abyss. The chest piece comes with 12 DEF, 1 MV SPD, and 1 LGT RES (lightning resistance). The full set does not grant a bonus for wearing all five pieces together, but each individual piece offers solid stats for the early game, particularly the boots and gloves.
Here's a quick overview of all five pieces and where to find them:

How to get the Blackwing Leather Armor chest piece and mask
Both the Blackwing Leather Armor (chest) and the Blackwing Mask drop together as guaranteed rewards from the Crowcaller boss in Chapter 5. The fight is tied to the main quest called Black and White, set in Crow's Nest. You cannot miss this quest during normal story progression, which makes these two pieces the easiest to obtain.
Defeating Crowcaller automatically adds both pieces to your inventory. No RNG, no repeat farming required.
How to get the Blackwing Leather Gloves
The Blackwing Leather Gloves are inside a treasure chest in the Sanctum of Penitence. The entrance to the ruins sits on the southern side of the Sanctum. Getting to the chest takes a bit of platforming:
- Enter from the southern entrance and head up the stairs to the upper floors.
- Move into the open roofless area.
- Near the edge of that open section, look for an unstable floor tile.
- Step on it to trigger the collapse, then drop through the opening.
- The chest is directly in front of you at the bottom.
The Sanctum of Penitence is a restricted area. Getting spotted by guards will complicate your run to the chest, so approach carefully and clear the path before heading upstairs.

How to get the Blackwing Leather Cloak
The Blackwing Leather Cloak sits inside a hidden chest in Pororin Village, but there's a catch: the village only becomes accessible after completing the The Unreachable Village quest. If you haven't done that yet, the area will be locked off.
Once you're in:
- Find the farm near the signpost, specifically the one with a wooden shed.
- Circle around the right side of the shed.
- You'll find a breakable plank wall. Smash through it.
- The hidden chest is on the other side.
The cloak is particularly effective against lightning damage, which lines up well with the rest of the set's lightning resistance theme.
How to get the Blackwing Leather Boots
The Blackwing Leather Boots are the most involved piece to collect. They're hidden inside the tower at the House of Healing, and reaching them requires using Force Palm.
- Find the ladder on the outside of the House of Healing and climb to the roof.
- From the roof, jump across to the right-side tower.
- The floor of the tower is a hidden entryway. Use Force Palm to break it open.
- Drop into the room below to find the chest.
The boots stack multiple stats: attack, defense, critical rate, movement speed, and lightning resistance. Of the three world-chest pieces, these offer the broadest stat coverage and are worth prioritizing if you're in the early sections of the game.
The House of Healing is a restricted zone. Use the ladder on the exterior to avoid drawing attention from guards inside the building.

Is the full Blackwing set worth building around?
The short answer: yes, especially for the first half of the game. The chest and mask are free story rewards, so there's no reason not to equip them the moment you clear Crowcaller. The three world-chest pieces require some detours, but none of them are particularly long.
The set has no bonus for wearing all five pieces simultaneously, which means you can mix in other armor where the Blackwing pieces fall short. The boots and gloves are the standout individual pieces given their multi-stat coverage, while the cloak's lightning resistance pairs naturally with the chest piece's own lightning resist bonus.
