Crimson Desert Guide: How to Get the Frozen Anguish

The Frozen Anguish is one of the best early two-handed swords you can grab in Crimson Desert, and most players walk right past it. It sits inside a locked tower in the frozen north, behind a puzzle that trips people up the first time. Get it early and you'll have a weapon that deals solid damage while restoring your Stamina on every hit.

What makes the Frozen Anguish worth getting?

According to IGN's location guide, the Frozen Anguish arrives pre-refined to Level 4 with 25 Attack and Lvl 1 Attack Speed baked in. Its Abyss Gears slot in Stamina Siphon Lvl 1, Attack Speed 1, and Attack 1, making it a two-handed sword that actively feeds your stamina bar while you fight. For early-game content, that kind of sustain is hard to beat.

The weapon also pairs well with the Frostcursed Plate Armor set, which you'll likely pick up in the same area anyway.

Where is the Frozen Anguish located?

The Frozen Anguish sits inside a Treasure Chest in the Spire of Frost, a large tower found in the Eye of Ice region near the northernmost section of Demeniss. The Spire is hard to miss given its size, but reaching it without taking serious cold damage requires some preparation.

If you've already unlocked the Abyss Nexus fast travel point south of the Spire's staircase, getting there is straightforward. If not, expect a hike through hostile frozen territory.

How to prepare before heading to the Spire of Frost

Both IGN and Adventure Gamers flag the same two requirements before you attempt this run:

  • Ice Resistance Level 10 or higher: Without it, you'll take constant chip damage from the cold. The Frostcursed Plate Armor and Frostcursed Plate Cloak, both found near the Spire, cover this.
  • Food supplies: Bring plenty to keep your health topped up, especially if you're going in without the Frostcursed set.

Skipping either of these turns a quick detour into a frustrating grind.

How to unlock the Spire of Frost door

Once you reach the Spire of Frost, head to the southern side and climb the large staircase to reach the entrance. The main door is sealed when you arrive. Here's how to open it:

  1. Locate the frozen pillar just to the left of the stairs.
  2. Use Turning Slash on the pillar to free it from ice. On PC that's LMB+RMB, on PlayStation it's L2+R2, and on Xbox it's LT+RT.
  3. Once the ice is cleared, interact with the pillar to light it.
  4. The door opens automatically once the pillar is lit.

Large ice blocks fall from the Spire during this sequence. Move quickly and stay aware of your position to avoid taking hits.

How to get the Frozen Anguish once inside

With the door open, walk straight inside the Spire. According to both IGN and Adventure Gamers, the Treasure Chest containing the Frozen Anguish is located beneath the staircase immediately in front of you. No additional puzzles, no boss fight at the chest itself. Open it and the sword is yours.
