The Picture Pursuit event in Disney Dreamlight Valley kicks off with one of the trickier scavenger hunts in recent memory. Merlin sends you into the Dream Castle to photograph four Walrus Motifs, and the castle's multiple floors make it easy to run right past them without realizing it. This guide covers every motif location in order, so you can knock this one out without backtracking.
How does the Picture Pursuit: Merlin quest work?
Before hunting anything down, you need to talk to Merlin to officially start the quest. He'll send you to the Dream Castle, located at the center of the Plaza biome. Once inside, your job is to find all four Walrus Motifs scattered across the castle's floors and photograph each one using your Phone. After snapping all four, head back to Merlin to finish the quest.
The process sounds simple, but the castle spans multiple floors and the motifs are small enough to blend into the walls and pillars. Knowing exactly where to look saves a lot of aimless wandering.
Where are all four Walrus Motif locations?
All four motifs are spread across different floors of the Dream Castle, from the ground level entrance all the way up to the top floor. Here's the breakdown floor by floor.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Guide: All Walrus Motif Locations
First Walrus Motif: entrance pillar, first floor
This one is the easiest to grab. Step through the Dream Castle's main entrance and immediately look to your left. The first Walrus Motif is painted directly on a pillar right next to the entrance on the first floor. You'll see it before you've taken more than a few steps inside.
Second Walrus Motif: near Mickey's secret door, first floor
Stay on the first floor for this one. From the entrance, turn right and pass through the small gap between the potted hedges. Look for the door decorated with colorful gems arranged in a flower pattern. That's Mickey's secret door, and the second Walrus Motif is painted on the wall to the right of it. Easy to miss if you don't know the gem door is your landmark.
Third Walrus Motif: above the Stardust Port doorway, third floor
Head to the left staircase from the entrance and climb up to the second floor, where you'll pass the entrances to the Monsters, Inc., Mulan, and Beauty and the Beast Realms. Keep going up the next set of stairs to reach the third floor. As soon as you arrive, look left and tilt your camera upward. The third Walrus Motif sits directly above the doorway leading to Stardust Port. The camera tilt is the key detail here since it's easy to scan the walls at eye level and miss it entirely.
Fourth Walrus Motif: top floor pillar
Take the right staircase from the entrance and climb all the way to the top floor, which is the level housing the entrances to the Lady and the Tramp, Inside Out, Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin, and Hercules Realms. Reach the top of the staircase and immediately look down to your right. The fourth Walrus Motif is on a pillar at that level. After testing the route a few times, going right from the start is the fastest path to this one.

What comes after the Merlin quest?
Finishing the Picture Pursuit: Merlin quest is just the start of the larger Picture Pursuit event. The valley has plenty more scavenger hunt content to work through, and other villagers have their own missions waiting. If you're working through the full event, the Disney Dreamlight Valley guides hub has walkthroughs for other quests running alongside it.
For players tackling other active storylines between Picture Pursuit missions, the Aquatic Musings quest walkthrough covers finding the Grayscale Trout and stopping Ursula's scheme, while the A Tangled Web quest guide walks you through uncovering the Realmweaver mystery. Both are solid next steps if you want to keep the quest log moving while the Picture Pursuit event runs.
