EA Sports FC 27 kicked off its first Gauntlet event of the year on 2 October 2026, and it is one of the better free-card opportunities in Season 1. Complete 8 of the 10 available challenges and you walk away with an untradeable 84-rated Destined for Glory Gonçalo Ramos at no coin cost. There are also 46 guaranteed Player Items across the full set, a Backline Conductor Evolution, and 200 SP. The event runs until 9 October 2026, so there are still several days left to grind.

What is the Ultimate Gauntlet 1 format?

The Gauntlet is a live event inside Ultimate Team built around a two-round knockout structure. Each entry requires you to field two completely separate squads, one per round, and every Player Item you use in round one (starting XI and bench alike) is locked out of round two for that entry. That means a single full entry burns up to 36 distinct Player Items.

The challenge counters accumulate across the entire week rather than within a single entry. The top task asks you to score in 14 separate matches, which is far more than the four matches one two-round entry produces. Budget for multiple entries spread across the event window.

All challenges and rewards

You need any 8 of these 10 to unlock the group reward. The two hardest to skip are challenge 1 (score in 14 matches) and challenge 3 (three perfect rounds). Dropping both still leaves exactly 8 completions and saves a significant amount of match time.

Complete all 10 and the full group reward unlocks: the untradeable Destined for Glory Gonçalo Ramos, 100 SP, and a Destined for Glory Premium Badge. Every single reward in this set is untradeable, so none of it can be sold on the Transfer Market.

FC 27 Ultimate Gauntlet 1 Guide: All Challenges & Rewards

Is the Destined for Glory Gonçalo Ramos worth earning?

The group reward is an 84 OVR ST, Gonçalo Ramos (Milano FC), with 82 PAC, 85 SHO, 70 PAS, 82 DRI, 55 DEF, and 83 PHY. He is right-footed with 3-star skills and a 4-star weak foot. As a flat 84, he is a solid mid-division striker and nothing more.

What changes the calculation is the card type. As a Destined for Glory item, Ramos upgrades based on his real domestic league output. The upgrade path runs through four tiers tied to combined goals and assists milestones (3, 6, 10, and 20) in Serie A matches only. Cup and European appearances do not count, and tracking began on 25 September 2026. The ceiling is base +2, which puts Ramos at a maximum of 86 OVR. Higher numbers circulating online are not accurate.

For a free untradeable 84 with a genuine upgrade path to 86, he is worth the eight challenges for almost any squad. Elite-division players with better strikers already can still use him as an Evolution candidate or depth piece.

How good is the Backline Conductor Evolution?

Challenge 9 pays out a Backline Conductor Evolution, a three-level CB-only upgrade. The key caps are 80 Pace, 80 Defensive Awareness, and 81 Slide Tackle, with the Block PlayStyle added at Level 2. Left-backs and right-backs are not eligible. Each level is gated behind one match with the Evolution player active.

The base version of this Evolution is already available free in the Evolution Store and is repeatable up to two times. The Gauntlet copy functions as an extra use slot rather than exclusive access, which matters if you have already used both free copies on different defenders.

What is the full reward haul worth?

All rewards are untradeable, which makes coin valuation tricky. The practical measure is Item Score, the value Player Items carry for SBCs and Evolutions. Clearing all 10 challenges yields 46 guaranteed Player Items totalling roughly 10,410 Item Score. On the eight-challenge route (skipping challenges 1 and 3), that drops to 36 items and approximately 6,660 Item Score.

Reward tierItemsApprox. Item Score eachTotal
80+ packs (challenges 1 and 2)141802,520
84+ pack (challenge 3)38302,490
82+ pack (challenge 4)53401,700
81+ pack (challenge 5)72801,960
77+ pack (challenge 6)7120840
75+ packs (challenges 7 and 10)1090900
Total4610,410

Those Item Score figures are community-tracked estimates, not EA-published data. An 84+ pack can deliver an 88, so the floor and the ceiling are meaningfully different. The packs are also useful for topping up SBC fodder, which pairs well with our guide on Squad Battles rewards and how to maximize your weekly haul.

How should you build your two Gauntlet squads?

The correct approach is the opposite of how most players instinctively build for an event.

  • Count before you queue. Filter your club to usable Gold players and confirm you can field 36 distinct Player Items across two squads. If you cannot, the Gauntlet is a shopping trip before it is a match.
  • Put your strongest XI in round one. Winning both matches in a round is what challenges 3, 4, and 5 reward, so there is no value in holding your best squad back for a round you may never reach.
  • Strip the round-one bench to minimum usable cards. Seven throwaway Bronzes or Silvers cost you nothing in-match and preserve seven real players for round two.
  • Chase goals, not clean sheets. Four of the ten challenges count matches in which you scored. A 2-3 loss where you scored still ticks those counters.
  • Buy cheap depth, not cheap quality. Low-rated Gold cards cost very little on the Transfer Market and are worth more to this event than one expensive meta card.

Club depth is a coin problem more than a skill problem here. If you are running thin on usable cards mid-week, topping up your Division Rivals grind is one of the faster ways to fund it. Check the full Division Rivals rewards breakdown by division to see which tiers are worth the time investment.

What is the fastest path to the Ramos card?

Skip challenges 1 and 3. Scoring in 14 separate matches and winning three perfect rounds are the two most demanding tasks on the list. Dropping both still leaves exactly 8 completions, which is all the group reward requires. You lose the 7x 80+ pack from challenge 1 and the 3x 84+ pack from challenge 3, but you keep the card and cut the required match volume roughly in half.

For players who want all 10, the key is spreading entries across the full seven-day window rather than trying to finish in one or two sessions. Each entry needs two fresh squads, so hammering it in a single evening will exhaust your club depth fast.
