Escape From Tarkov Update 1.0.5.0: Half-Life References and Quest Assistance

Escape from Tarkov added a new battle pass system with the 1.1.0.0 update, tied to its first official season, Kord Breach. The pass is free and open to every player, but progressing through it means hunting down TerraGroup Documents scattered across every map in the game. These documents act as the primary currency for unlocking reward tiers, and the rewards are permanent once earned. The catch is that your daily document finds are capped, so efficient routing matters.

What are the TerraGroup Document types?

Not all TerraGroup Documents are the same. The battle pass uses seven distinct types, and specific tiers will ask for one kind while ignoring the others. Here's the full list:

Each type fills a different slot in the battle pass task chain, so grabbing a variety every raid is smarter than fixating on one kind.

tip
Grab every document type you see regardless of what your current tier demands. Stacking a variety now saves you from scrambling later when the task chain shifts requirements.

How do TerraGroup Documents spawn?

The spawn system works in your favor more than you might expect. Documents appear in your personal loot pool, meaning other players cannot grab your spawns before you reach them. There's no race to a fixed chest. You can clear an entire raid and sweep for documents on the way out without losing anything.

The daily cap on finds is the real limiting factor, not competition. Once you hit that ceiling, additional documents simply stop appearing in your loot pool for that day. Plan your sessions around this and prioritize high-density areas to extract with as many documents as possible before the cap kicks in.

Where to find TerraGroup Documents on every map

Documents spawn across all maps, but certain locations concentrate them in ways that make routing straightforward. Below is a breakdown by map.

Customs

Customs has several reliable pockets worth checking every run:

  • The library inside Crackhouse
  • The office on Big Red (requires a key)
  • Old Gas Station area
  • Both the two-storey and three-storey Dorms, across multiple rooms
  • Offices inside the newer warehouse buildings
  • The resting area of Stronghold

Ground Zero

  • The coffee hut near the car extract
  • In and around Tarbank
  • Offices surrounding the TerraGroup building
  • Around the Emercom extract tent

Labs

Labs is arguably the densest map for documents. Check the residential unit, and behind nearly every keycard-locked door. The important offices throughout the complex are consistent producers. If you already have a guide for getting into The Lab and accessing its keycard doors, that knowledge pays off doubly here.

Interchange

Check any superstore office inside the main mall, and spend extra time in the new expansion area outside the mall perimeter. Both zones produce documents regularly.

Streets of Tarkov

Streets has the widest spread of any map. Documents appear in Cardinal, Concordia, LexOs, around Klimov, and in virtually every major building on the map. If you're already running Streets for other quests like stashing radar station spare parts across multiple maps, fold document hunting into the same run.

Factory

  • The office and laboratory area
  • Around the pumping area
  • The med tent
  • Tagilla's office space

Woods

  • Houses around the village areas
  • The Old Sawmill
  • The Scav Bunker

Shoreline

Shoreline spreads documents across the Resort (any part), the Pier, Smuggler's Base, the Weather Station, and the Power Station.

Lighthouse

The Water Treatment Plant across all its buildings is the main draw. Documents also appear up in the chalets, down near the lighthouse itself, and sporadically in buildings near the river village.

warning
The daily document cap applies regardless of map. Running high-density areas like Labs or Streets first maximizes what you extract before the cap cuts off your finds for the day.

How do you earn more documents outside of looting?

Loot isn't the only source. Completing tasks in the Kord Breach task line and eliminating Black Division operatives across the maps both contribute documents to your total. These sources stack with your daily loot finds, so active quest progression accelerates your battle pass rank significantly.

For players already working through Woods-based quests, tasks like the Guardian of Nature quest walkthrough can be combined with document sweeps in the village and sawmill areas to make each raid count twice.

tip
Black Division operative kills count toward battle pass progress separately from document finds. Prioritize them when they appear on your task list to stack rewards efficiently.

Can you buy your way through the battle pass?

Yes, though it costs real money. The Expansion Hub lets you purchase Tarcoins, which you can spend on Classified Documents. These override any document type requirement, meaning a single Classified Document satisfies whatever the current tier demands. Spending roughly $80 covers the entire battle pass in one transaction.

That said, the free route is entirely viable if you play consistently. The personal loot pool system and the spread of spawns across every map mean that regular raiders will accumulate documents naturally without ever needing to open their wallet.

For a full collection of quest walkthroughs and map guides to pair with your document farming sessions, the complete Escape from Tarkov guide library covers everything from task completions to map-specific strategies across the entire game.
