Fortnite Is Adding New Star Wars Modes ...

The Claim 3 Capture Points quest is part of the Unleash the Force quest set, sitting inside the Galactic Siege column of Fortnite's Star Wars event. Finish it and you pocket 10,000 XP toward the current Battle Pass, plus progress toward bonus cosmetic milestones including the Sith Holocron Back Bling and the Shock Trooper Electrostaff Pickaxe. The catch is that the quest works differently from most objective tasks, and a lot of players burn multiple rounds without a single point registering. Here's exactly why that happens and how to fix it.

What mode do you actually need to play?

Capture Points only exist in Star Wars Galactic Siege. Battle Royale, Reload, OG, and every other standard playlist will never advance this quest. From the main menu, open the Discover screen and select Galactic Siege from the modes list. Once you load in, you spawn in the cantina hub and get randomly assigned to either the Empire or the Rebels before each round begins.

Galactic Siege is a conquest-style mode where both factions fight to control three labeled points on the map: A, B, and C. The round timer at the top of the screen tracks how long until the next match starts, giving you a clear window to plan your rotation before the action kicks off.

How does claiming a capture point actually work?

This is where most players get tripped up. A capture only registers toward your quest when a point that your team does not already own flips to your team's color. To trigger that flip, you stand inside the marked capture ring until the on-screen meter reaches 100%.

Two things will stop progress dead:

  • Enemies inside the zone freeze the capture bar entirely until they leave or are eliminated.
  • Leaving the ring early resets or halts progress, so if you get eliminated mid-capture, that attempt does not count.

Standing on a point your team already controls does nothing. The bar only moves on neutral or enemy-held points, and the flip has to happen with you inside the ring.

Your teammates' captures do not count toward your personal quest total. Each of the three points must be secured by you specifically, not just your squad.

Does the quest require three captures in one round?

No. The counter is cumulative across matches. One capture per round across three separate rounds completes the quest just as cleanly as three captures in a single match. Captures earned on either the Empire or Rebel side both count, so switching factions between rounds is not an issue.

Each successful capture also pays out 30 in-round Credits, which is the currency used to unlock additional classes mid-match, including the Force User class required for a separate quest in the same track.

Fastest way to claim three points

  1. Load into Galactic Siege and check the top HUD when the round starts. Any point not already owned by your team is a valid target.
  2. Sprint directly to the nearest neutral or enemy point. Use jetpacks, speeders, or tauntauns near spawn to cut travel time and beat teammates to the zone.
  3. Clear any enemies inside the capture ring first. Their presence freezes the bar, so you need the zone clean before the meter will move.
  4. Stand inside the ring until the meter hits 100% and the point flips to your team's color. A quest toast will appear confirming 1/3, 2/3, or 3/3.
  5. Rotate to the next unowned point and repeat. If your team already controls everything, hold position until the enemy retakes a point, then recapture it, or wait for the next round.

Which class should you pick for capturing points?

Any class can stand in a capture ring, but some make the job considerably easier. Classes unlock as you earn Credits during the round, so your first capture will usually happen with the default loadout.

If you have enough Credits saved, the Force User class is the strongest pick for solo captures. Pushing enemies physically out of the ring removes the bar-freeze problem without relying on kills.

Why isn't my capture counting?

If the quest toast never appears after what feels like a successful capture, check these:

  • The point was already owned by your team before you entered the ring.
  • You were eliminated before the meter reached 100%.
  • An enemy stayed inside the zone long enough to contest the bar, preventing a full flip.
  • You are in a Creative remix of the mode rather than the official Galactic Siege playlist.

What rewards does this quest unlock?

Completing the Claim 3 Capture Points quest awards 10,000 XP immediately upon the third capture. It is the entry quest in the Galactic Siege column of the Unleash the Force set. The remaining Galactic Siege quests roll out weekly through May 2026 and include spending 500 Credits, completing 3 Bounties, and becoming the Force User class, each worth another 10,000 XP.

Finishing quests across all three Star Wars modes (Galactic Siege, Escape Vader, and Droid Tycoon) feeds the bonus milestone goals. Reaching 15 total quest completions across all three modes unlocks the Shock Trooper Electrostaff Pickaxe.
