What Is the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Showdown?

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 drops you into a faction war the moment you load in, and the first thing you need to do is pick a side. Team Foundation or Team Ice King — two iconic characters, one permanent choice. Before you tap that button, here's everything that actually matters about this decision.

What Is the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Showdown?

The Showdown is Fortnite's faction-war system for Chapter 7 Season 2, pitting The Foundation (leader of The Seven) against The Ice King (the morally grey ruler of Polar Peak) in a season-long points battle. Players pick a side, earn points by winning Rivalries, and contribute to a global leaderboard tracked at the official Showdown page.

At launch, roughly 1.4 million players sided with Team Ice King compared to 1.2 million on Team Foundation, giving Ice King the early numerical edge.

Should You Choose Team Foundation or Team Ice King?

Here's the short answer: pick whichever bonus outfit style you want more. That's genuinely the most impactful factor in this decision. Both teams share the same Milestone reward track, meaning all the freebies you earn as the season progresses are identical no matter which side you're on.

The one meaningful difference comes down to cosmetic styles. At the end of the season, whichever team accumulates the most points unlocks a bonus outfit style for their leader, and that style gets distributed to all Battle Pass owners regardless of which team they were on. So even if your side loses, you'll still receive the winning skin.

The two bonus looks up for grabs are:

  • Frost-Ready Foundation (Team Foundation's prize)
  • Exalted Frost Ice King (Team Ice King's prize)

The key nuance here is the early Battle Pass buyer bonus. Anyone who purchased the Chapter 7 Season 2 Battle Pass before March 26, 2026 received an exclusive launch week style for The Foundation. Since The Foundation already gets this extra cosmetic, players who care about style counts might lean toward Team Ice King. If The Foundation wins the Showdown, he ends up with more total styles than the Ice King. If the Ice King wins, both characters sit at an equal number of looks.

Can You Get Both Bonus Outfit Styles?

No. Only one bonus style gets unlocked at the end of the season, and it goes to the team with the most Rivalry points. The losing style may appear in the Fortnite Item Shop later, but Epic has not confirmed this. Don't count on it when making your decision.

How Do You Earn Points for Your Team?

The only way to contribute to your team's point total is by winning Rivalries. These are dedicated mini-battles built into the season's structure. The more Rivalries you win, the more points you add to your side's global tally.

What Happens When Milestones Are Reached?

As the Showdown progresses and teams hit Milestone thresholds, both sides receive free rewards. The reward structure is identical for Team Foundation and Team Ice King players, so this isn't a factor that should influence your team decision at all. Just pick your preferred style and start winning Rivalries.

Which Team Should You Actually Join?

To put it plainly: Team Ice King is the slightly smarter cosmetic choice for most players, and the numbers back that up with 1.4 million players already agreeing. Here's the logic:

  • The Foundation already has an extra style from the early Battle Pass launch bonus
  • Choosing Team Ice King balances the style count if Ice King wins
  • The Exalted Frost Ice King look is visually distinct with its hooded face aesthetic
  • Both teams receive the same Milestone rewards, so there's no gameplay disadvantage

That said, if you love The Foundation as a character and want to fight for his cause on the Golden Coast island, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. The difference is purely cosmetic.
